Great looking truck Kerry. I love my Ford truck and not sure I'll own anything else in the future tbh. I bought my 15 F150 the November before Covid hit and got mine for a steal compared to what used trucks are selling for now. I actually got an offered $4k more than I paid for it by the servicing dealer. I seriously considered it, but then realized I would have to buy an overpriced used truck to replace it.

Does the new truck have the 3.5 or the 5.0 Kerry?

Ryan, new truck is 3.5 eco boost. Getting close to 20mpg and from all I have read it will tow a fair amount. The truck has a factory tow package. I was really wanting a 5.0 but could not pass this deal up. Plus this one has the long bed, which I was looking for.  As far as Ford Trucks.... only thing I have been driving for the last 20 years. Never anything major. I wanted to get a silverado just because, and I think they are a nice looking truck. As fate would have it, another Ford though

20k was my budget, thats where I topped out at a 2013. '14s and up and youre in 25k+ price range. I know what you mean about pricing. I started looking last winter and I could have got a 2014 or 2015 for near what I paid or very little more.  I have a friend with a 2012 xlt. He bought it used about 4 years ago for 20k.  I told him he could easily get that if he sold it today!

I'm in need of a good used car (something newer) but can't justify the ever increasing price. I'm stating to think that this is a gimmick to increase prices... but maybe it's best not to go there.

Sunday, drove mine for the first time in about 3 weeks. Put a roof on my house myself which was a chore then ended up with a nasty infection in my knee. I’m on the mend now but was close to needing to go to the hospital over it. Bummer.

6 year Anniversary with the wife was last weekend and she got me a rebuild kit for my factory hurst 4 speed shifter so today in between grilling I started taking the shifter apart a bit. We shall see how this goes.

Jack I hear ya on the car thing. Just be glad youre not in the market for a truck!  I think prices have gone up about 30% since the beginning of the year. I wanted something '15-'16 had to settle for '13 for the price. Still got a decent truck with mileage I was looking for just a couple of years older. Try setting your sights back a couple of years. Still a bunch of '10-'14 cars with low mileage. I look at anything 100k or less. I figure most cars these days will run 200k easily and I dont need the newest fanciest car on the street. Good Luck.

So, (not today...I) recently spent some time rebuilding the original QJ for my 73. It hasn't run, in (I don't know) maybe 35 yrs, so I figured it might need a bit of attention. It was the 1st time I acquired a rebuild kit from Cliff Ruggles. I was impressed with the quality of his kit, compared to recent kits of the past few yrs. His accelerator pump actually has a leather umbrella. Gaskets seem a bit thicker too. And because the kit was ordered for this P/N carb, there wasn't the usual "left-over" trinkets, that come with other kits. Unfortunately  don't have a car to test it on...yet, so had to resort to Jacks old 350, (again...thanx Jack:)) It's  a start anyway.

Looking good Joe, some progress is better than no progress. I've yet to bolt on the carb that you gave me... dam work keeps getting in the way.

And the 350 is your, has been yours for few years now.

Speaking of trucks, I ended up picking two of them up in the last month. lol

I'll have to grab some pics, but one is a 99 Chevy 2500 (old 88-98 body style) with a whopping 80k miles on it. Super nice truck. I'm redoing the cab corners on it as they were getting a little soft.

The 2nd is a 2000 GMC single cab stepside 2wd. Factory V8 power windows/locks truck, fresh up from Florida. When I say there's no rust on it, I mean there's not even a single flake. I already ordered a 4/6 lowering kit, 20" GMC Snowflake wheels, and a bunch of other little stuff.

I bought a new 2003 W/T; long bed V6, no AC.  A friend drove it and immediately bought a year old 2002 V8 short box - very nice.

To me the GMT800's wee the last decent trucks GM made as the following generations kept getting bigger and bigger.

I'll grab some pics of them soon. The 2500 is going to the tint shop hopefully early next week.

The stepside looks rough right now with the paint burned from the Florida sun, but that'll be going off to paint soon.

Flippers?

Nah. My poor old F350 came down with an extreme case of terminal cancer, so I needed to replace it with another heavy duty truck. Then I got bored with my Jeep as a daily, so I sold that off to build a sweet street truck. I've been planning on building one for a while, so I figured no time like the present!

I just finished the cab corners on the 2500. They were pretty much the only flaw on the truck.

I got a letter in the mail from the state MVA. My first thought was, what the heck now? Im mostly legal with all of my cars  8), LOL.  It was asking me to consider becoming a school bus driver! I have a commercial license so I suppose theyre doing everything they can to recruit. My (grand)sons bus is doing double duty right now. I have joked that when they hit $30 hr and benifits Im signing up. May not be too far from that.

LOL. I can relate to that. Many years back, when my father retired, he picked up that job. (for some "supplementary" income). He barely made it 3 months, when he threw in the towel. My brother had the same story, when he temporarily filled in for a no show driver.  That was the late 80s. Can't imagine what it's like today, when no-one is responsible, or held accountable for their actions anymore. I could add to that, but won't, because I don't think it would go over well.

Today I bought a new truck. For me it is the first time I have owned a full size truck. I have had Toyota pickups before and I love the Toyota products. For the last 10 years I have had Toyota 4runners and again it’s was a vehicle I really love.
My fiancé had a Chevrolet Avalanche that was 11 years old and we decided to trade that one in a get a Dodge Ram truck. Carvana gave us a really great offer to buy it and we decided to use that to get the new truck.
I have never owned a Dodge or any other Mopar so this is a first for me. I really was impressed with the Ram truck and really liked the price point and towing features. I looked at  Ford, GM and the Toyota Tundra but to be honest I really didn’t like what was available. I decided to check out the Dodge products and I really like the specs on the Ram . I really liked the driving aspect as well.

So time will tell how it goes with Mopar and me. I doubt I’ll drop my love for Pontiac and start buying Chargers , Road Runners or Challengers , but look forward to seeing how the Ram trucks work out for me.

Well the other day, Found my new truck has a remote starter
May not be big news to most but being most of the stuff I drive is old its kinda futuristic. Found out by accident. We came out of home depot and the truck was running  Doors locked, no one else around. We (my son and myself) were quite perplexed. I had no idea what was going on. Anyway we got in and moved along as usual. Went to another HD a little later, came out and the same thing. Figured what the heck is going on thinking something was shorting out. ANYWAY, come to find out once the lock button is pushed 2 more quick pushes and the motor starts. My son who drives most of the time was a bit paranoid and didnt hear the door lock and kept hitting the button thus starting it unknowingly. Not sure I will use that feature but nice to know its there.

Lol. RK.  We just bought a 2018 Buick Envision for my wife.  It was a former lease.  I found a copy of the original sticker online and it said it had remote start which we weren’t initially aware of.  I downloaded the 300 page owners manual and figured out how to work it.  We’ve been finding more features while slowly going through the manual.

That's cool! That was one option my new truck came with. I used today as we were up in the UP snowmobiling and it was nice to get in a warm truck.

It's actually remarkable you find it. You probably owe your son $300 for the installation  :-D

Chief Poncho,

Congrats on getting your car running! I am a big fan of early Gen II Firebirds and love the color. Since I am a relative new comer to TAC, looking forward to hearing the story and seeing pictures of your car.

Today I stopped in to let get caught up on things. Over the holidays we picked up a second dog (rescue) who was pretty much locked in a bathroom for 4 years and beaten regularly. He is a 4 year old Great Dane and is settling into life with us ok so far. There have been some hiccups but that is to be expected.

I am finally almost done the modified makeup desk for my daughter and I'm hoping I can deliver it to her by Friday. I showed it to her at Christmas as it was a gift and let her choose the final direction of the project.

My other dog has slowly been getting more and more "dog aggressive" and we have an appointment to get her spayed. I wanted to breed her originally which is why it hasn't been done yet but now that she has become aggressive I don't want too. She almost killed my neighbors dog a few days ago and cost me $650.00 in vet fees. Now with that behavior, she has a life long acquaintance with a muzzle and a leash.

Sadly I have not worked on Ruby for quite awhile but I do have the proper bearings in so it's just a matter of getting the time to work on it.

I have recently agreed to re-gasket a snow machine engine for a guy and look it over so that will be starting at the beginning of next week.

I have also started teaching two kids karate at my home as they can't afford the membership costs where I normally teach at in exchange for labor work during the summer. One kid is 14 and the other is 23. The only connection between the two kids is that they want to train karate.

I am also looking into possibly opening up my own dojo here in my community but I am still currently off work and will be going back to something in the near future so I need to juggle that with the timing of the dojo.

We shall see

Hope everyone has had a great start to 2022!!

PS: Forgot to mention that I replaced my 2018 Silverado with the same thing but a red Z-71 with a few less kms on it

Charlie,

Good to hear from you. The saying goes if you want something done ask a busy person. That is certainly true in your case and many on TAC who always seem to have multiple things going all the time. You're a good man for donating your time and teaching these boys Karate. Congratulations on the new dog. My dog is a seven-year-old mutt we rescued six years ago. You never know what they may have been through, but you should assume the worst. Mine took a lot of work, now he is by far the best behaved and most loving dog I have ever had. Sometimes life gets in the way of our hobby and that's OK. Ruby will be waiting and ready when you are.

Charlie, Good to hear from you. Def sounds like youre busy. We are also dog people but on the opposite spectrum. 2 chihuahuas and a pomeranian. My wife always wanted a great dane but I kept talking her out of it. They are great dogs though, my best friend in hs had one and it was a big baby. You are not alone in the lack of work on your car. My progress hit a brick wall quite a few months ago and its hard to get started back up.
