Door Seals
« on: September 03, 2021, 12:55:53 AM »
Hi all,

Just my luck.
In 2018 I bought a set of Metro door seals from Rock Auto.
Only got around to fitting them now.

I have a dud.....(or do I?)
Both top rear fittings are for the driver door. :)

The driver door is already fitted and you can see here that the pasenger door top fitting is the wrong mould.

I really don't feel like spending $80 importing another set........ :(

I wasn't too happy with the Metro seals.   Wiil be replacing once the car gets repainted.

I tried several brands and found Steele Ruber Products fit best on the doors.  The foam cell was closest to original too.
OER brand didn't even close the gap and mold shape not very close to original GM.

New door seals have arrived. We'll see how fitment goes the second time round.

So Metro is the wrong seals to get? Just the door or across the board? 2nd Gen graveyard is selling them but I don’t want them if they don’t fit.

The one that fitted, actually fits great, but I would go with another brand.

You mean rockauto sent you two driver's side seals? One word of advice: If you buy parts from rockauto you MUST inspect them right away. Have had many issues with them. One of the latest was I bought 6 NGK coil on plugs and when I installed them 2 months later, the coils inside the NGK packaging were Bosch!! The only one that an NGK turned out to be dead on arrival! That one was sent to NGK who analyzed it and sent me a free replacement but I was stuck with the Bosch coils which is OK but you get the point. Also, bought a set of Sachs brand rear shocks for our van both of which crapped out after 2 years and less than 20,000 miles. I can go on, but this is enough. I will not buy from rockauto ever again. They are cheap for a reason

No, I don't think it's the fault of RockAuto, as these are pre-packed by Metro.
Anyway, bought new ones, and they are fitted.
