Interesting article. Good to read it again. Not much is written about the Catoosa cars. I wanted to do a clone for the longest time, may still do some day  Many years ago there was a fellow from that area in GA that supposedly had a genuine Catoosa car. I recall that his uncle or some other relative may have been a sheriff there. The car was pretty much verified as original, had all of the earmarks, holes drilled in the right locations etc. He had a restoration thread going then I believe he said maybe he was getting a divorce and all fell silent never to be heard from again. I keep waiting to see that car pop up at an auction!
Padget was quite a character. I knew of and talked to him on another forum. Very quirky in his writing style. Sadly he passed away not too long ago. He would write about knowing gov't secrets that would make people cringe. A lot of the time people thought he was just b-sing. Come to find out he was a computer guy in the service during the cold war era and was telling the truth!! He was a big Pontiac guy, also and talked about a Astre that he special ordered with a 400 for racing. Another one of those everyone thought he was b-sing until Someone provided a written article that substantiated his claim. It was a 1 of 1 car.
Finished!

I just drove through there a week ago.  I was going to Oxford, AL and I didn't want to get on I-24 in Chatt.  I thought about stopping to see his tombstone but I didn't.

Some years after I wrote that the daughter in law of the Sheriff contacted me and stated that the Sheriffs car was in the families possession.  She also gave me a phone number to call.  I was changing jobs at the time and the number was lost, when I wasn't allowed to forward emails to myself.
