I don’t recall if it was in this board but before the recent crash some members posted various non-car related projects around the house so I thought I would post mine now that I can add pictures.
Wife and I bought our house in early 2016 and she had been bugging me to re do our kitchen. I’m not by any means a carpenter or remodeler. Just a DIY guy who will try to muddle my way through most things. But I am lucky to have the guidance and assistance from my dad. He’s 70 but you wouldn’t know it. He and I are close and I have the utmost respect and appreciation for him. I couldnt have done a lot, including this kitchen, without him and his help. He also is not a carpenter or remodeler. In fact, he retired from Jeep working on the assembly line but he has done his share of remodeling as the need has presented itself.
Anyway, here are a few before, in progress and after pictures. I should note my wife put in her fair share of work too any time she was able.

Over 6 months worth starting last August but it was definitely worth it.

Nice work and thanks for posting. Nothing like a father and son especially when the wife is willing to help. But I have a question for you, what did you do without a kitchen f ok r 6 month?

Jack, realistically we were only completely without for about three months. Even then, we kept our old electric range and fridge in the kitchen and just moved them every day as needed. I also took a small portion of the old lower cabinet and counter from the side where the sink was and set that up next to the stove so my wife had somewhere small to work. We washed dishes in our basement utility sink, had some small appliances set up on a folding table in the basement, microwave and paper plates on a folding table in the kitchen we moved around to keep out of our way and one of our spare bedrooms was full of boxes and boxes of kitchen stuff.
Once we regained the sink in the kitchen that was a game changer and things improved from there.
I actually kept and reused a lot of the old cabinets and put them in my garage. The small one I set up next to our range temporarily I put locking casters on and some folding brackets for a roll-around workspace in my garage. I’ve been using it to weld on recently actually

Thank you guys. Not something I WANT to do again but I think I could if I had to. I learned a lot along the way. Maybe the next one would only take me 5 months :-D

Wow, looks great! It is really nice to be able to work on projects with your father. My dad has always helped out on my brother and I's crazy projects, from building barns, lifting houses off foundations and digging basements to roofing houses. It really is something I will miss when he's gone. I guess, then it will be my turn to help my kids.
