What brand oil filter do you use?
« on: March 19, 2025, 05:47:37 AM »
Just a general topic of discussion.  I typically use K&N but used a royal purple one last year.  I have no loyalty I just want the best filtration possible.

No idea. I take my car to the shop for oil change. I trust they use something moderately good, after all they built the motor  My son has a 2004 GTO and was having a similar discussion on a forum geared towards those cars. Guys were giving him a hard time for having the shop do an oil change. We stopped by Autozone and got a price for the oil and filter. It was almost $80. The shop charges $59. to do the job.

Wix 51258 I believe, change it yearly every start of driving season in Minnesota. As long as you consistently replace it I can't see it mattering too much.

ACDelco.  The new GM vehicles still come with them.  I don't think they would use an inferior filter from the get go.

Maybe, but it only needs to last till the warranty expires, then they don't care

To quote General Chuck Yeager from an old AC Delco commercial " AC Deco parts fit your car like a nut on a bolt."

Pontiac 400 use PF 30

Olds 403 use PF45

Just a run of the mill filter. Usually not the cheapest but not the most expensive either. Most filters are good and work fine. I've used AC Delco, K&N, and others.
