Audio Boost Amplifier Removal
« on: January 31, 2025, 12:24:39 PM »
Hello All. I am sending my 1981 Formula stereo to Wags Klassic Electronics for service work and Bluetooth upgrade. This car has the audio boost amplifier with the audio boost switch in the dash. I am wanting to send the amplifier for service too. I have not removed the items from the car yet. It’s my understanding that the amplifier is located in the dash where the single center speaker is located in earlier year models. I’m looking for the best method to remove the amplifier, hopefully without having to remove the dash. Thanks in advance for your help. I’ll Add the diagram from the 1981 assembly manual showing the wiring, and general location of the amplifier in a 2nd post due to size of the file. Thanks!

I’m unfamiliar with the size of that amp but I suspect it could be removed on the passenger side like the radio

Is it the 1980 Assembly Manual, or you actually have the 81 version too?
