Wanted: 1978-81 Fisher T-tops
« on: December 16, 2024, 09:21:34 AM »
I was going to post this in the Car Parts Wanted section but it won't let me post pics.

I am looking for a set of t-tops that I can take out the old glass and install a set of NOS Gold tinted glass.  I am mainly concerned about the condition of the t-top frame.  There can't be any blowouts or splits on the retaining tab openings.  If you have a set, or know anyone that has a set, with broken or heavily scratched glass......I would ask that you break out the glass to make it lighter for shipping.  You don't have to remove all the glass shards inside the frame.  I will clean them up when they arrive.

I have tried buying them online from Marketplace, Craigslist and ebay but the deal falls through because they don't want to ship or they don't like the idea of breaking out the old glass to make them lighter for shipping.

Here are pics of the retaining tabs:

I have not examined a set of fisher tops, I have Hurst tops but it has been so long since I stored them I could not remember, but if it is not too difficult to remove the frames you might be able to find a trim restoration shop that could repair them. There are metals available that may be applied in a solder like process that might be able to repair/strengthen the area. You might still face shipping cost issues though as they may prefer to have the glass along to insure proper fit and reassembly. Sorry, I don't have any contacts or shops to recommend.
