I love it! Pop moved up to Olds after Pontiacs so I always favored those over the buicks. I particularly liked the cutlass's. My older brother bought a new one around '81 or so.
I am not surprised that there is little support as far as parts go. You dont see many of those around anymore. Keep us updated on your progress.
And rethink the efi, LOL
Also, I was having problems with the forum until I switched to Firefox. It works fine for me on that platform, on edge its all wonky. Funny thing was, my banking app did the same. It would not work properly until I loaded ffox for TAC, now my bank works perfectly there.
Roadking,
I download firefox on my home PC but the issue persisted yet. At first, the problem was only on my PC but keeping up with TAC on my cell phone was still ok. Now its both! Because of that I have been away from TAC for quite some time...I really miss it here. Just recently, I tried logging on at work, using Firefox and a MacBook Pro. Well, it worked!
As far as progress, I have done a few things to the car:
1) Replaced the windshield, since it would not have passed the safety inspection upon attempting to register it here in Texas.
2) I bought a set BFG 245 60 15's, which I both like and dislike. The speedometer is off now with the shorter tire and because it is shorter, there is a bigger gap up front. I like it because it fills out the wheel wells (width-wise) nicely and the car handles better too. The front fenders and rear quarters flare out, which made the original 215 70 15 tires look silly.
3) I'm about to replace the water pump gasket since it began leaking last week. I'll replace the pump as well if I'm going to remove all of the accessories to replace the gasket. It didn't start leaking until I pressure-washed the engine to get rid of some caked on/baked on oil which would smell on long drives (If I want my wife to come along, it can't stink
). Right after that, it began leaking!
As for EFI, I have talked to quite a few guys that done so on their old cars and they all say it was worth the expense and trouble. I can also appreciate keeping a car original...to an extent!
