Eyebrows
« on: October 27, 2024, 11:52:12 AM »
Does anyone have a good detailed pic of the lower front windshield trim installed especially around the lower edge of the windshield?
I’m finishing up on some small details and I have a decent size gap between the windshield and trim. Original trim pieces, aftermarket windshield. Not the 1970 trim witch is different than the later models.

Thanks in advance…….john

Can't wait to see the replies on this one! I couldn't place them properly either. My windshield sits lower and has a gap between the trim. I think it is because I used urethane to seal the windshield and not the original type that's on a strip. Hopefully what I did was right, I heard the original stuff was banned.

Silver car is pass side, black car is dr side. This is one of those parts that is hard to photograph. Hope these help a little.
Thanks for the reminder, as I need to get the dr. side on the silver car installed (if I can find it?)
Also, I knew both cars were a bit dirty but they dont look all that bad in person, but boy, take a close up pic and WOOF!

From my pics, it looks like the ones on the black car fit a little tighter to the windshield, on the silver car there is a bit of a gap. I suppose that difference is in the windshield manufacturer. The 'eyebrow' pieces on the silver car are repro's from Ames, the ones on the black car are nos pieces I bought years ago from our own Yetti.

Good pics. Woof. And yes, hard to take pics. I did this years ago for a forum, added pics, but I can't even find them now so I probably deleted the lot if they were that bad! I do have others but they aren't clear either.

When I got my car way back, it only had one in place. I sourced a complete set genuine, were still available at the time. That's when I realised there wasn't a hole on the RH side. I later had this area sanded back for painting black and no sign of filler like I expected, or welding up etc, or reason to. So as easy as slipping into place, matching the fit on glass and adding the hole.
The reproduction pics I saw in more recent years seem to have the same scribble and die-grinder markings on the rear, which was always messy. So I'm not sure if they've reused the same dies or copied them some other way, how this fit is anyone's guess, one hole, and slips into the end of the bright trim, the other tab rests over the trim. Drilling a second hole would work if still hidden under the tab on the cowl, or try another eyebrow perhaps.

No worries , b_hill. Today was only day off this week to check the forum and the car. I have the original ones and I’m pretty sure the curve in the aftermarket windshield is a little off. Thanks for all the responses.

I have to ask........were they on the '79?
If so, I now know what is missing.

Any links to some online shopping?

All 71-81, 70 had their own version. Like I mentioned somewhere, mine had none but hole for one so seems they may have skipped here and there, but should be there.

Just an example, shop around. #3062231 RH and #3062332 LH.
