Hush panel cover
« on: March 29, 2024, 07:01:33 AM »
While trying to figure out how this part attaches under dash, I searched online and realized that there are two versions of them. The area that screws to the fuze box is different. I bought second version and it doesn't fit on my '79. Maybe it's related to different fuse boxes(blade vs glass fuses), or maybe I'm doing something wrong !?

Can’t answer that for you. I have one I found in a parts lot and when I tried to install it the area towards the firewall seemed way too low. I kept touching it with the toe of my right shoe. I’ve done without it for the last 14 years almost so I pulled it back off but I’d be curious to know the proper way to install one.

Right lower part mounts to the gas pedal bracket.

It says 77-81 use the same #10013085 in the Parts Manual. #10000716 was replaced by it. No mention of 76 or the earlier number in that listing.

What did change was the small angled bracket that came off the fuse panel, 80-81 had their own. Is that where yours wasn't matching up? The earlier version was #10000717. The manual also says that #10013086 replaces this but obviously it's not even the same part.

Some pics from Hogheads page:

The new bulge next to the brake pedal cutout could be the altered location of the cruise-control switch, which also changed from 76-78 and 79-81.

This is the 1980 diagram, clearly showing an earlier version of the cover without bulge and the small bracket but revised numbers, not yet sure which manual it was from as the few I checked didn't have it at all. But I'm only guessing, there's not a single mount on that assembly I can use and the pedal spacing is also different to my car!

Great diagram, shows everything. Thanks Ben ! I have that little angle bracket, but instead of using it, I tried to mount the panel directly to the fuse box and that didn't work.

I think you might have the wrong one. My 74 and my 79 both used this one. I am no expert….

It's the carpet guard, goes below the panel we're talking about.

I never knew about that fuse panel bracket. I have my radio suppressor still but don’t remember a bracket. I’ll have to look.
