Removing paint from interior panels

I have a set of rear deluxe panels I recently picked up to replace mine, which have some cracks in them and one of them had previously been dued red. I’d prefer to remove that before I clean up and re-spray both of them. Any suggestions on what to use without damaging the plastic?

Not sure I would try to remove the paint, I would fix the crack, clean and prep good, then primer and new dye (paint).

The reason I thought to is it’s already coming off in some spots. I suppose I could clean it up and spray it and see how it looks.

I would scrub them with a good PH neutral cleaner (I use Lexol) and a good scrub brush. Then just good old soap and hot water, hot, water.  Depending how bad the paint is you may have to slightly scuff or blend some areas where the paint is flaking.  Then prim, paint and clear with SEM products. Today's vinyl paints/dyes are amazing in there durability when applied right.

I used a pressure washer on my parts. Got some over spray off that way. The problem is there is a clear coat on the original parts what you may have problems with. I took a sharp blade to trim the clear coat where it was pealing up.

Are you sure about the clear? I have many panels in different colors and I have never seen a clear coat peel. My formula was so sun baked they crumbled. I guess there was white powder which a thought was just decomposing plastic.  I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm just saying I haven't seen it and I'm curious now.

I thought about the pressure washer idea too but wasn’t sure.

Im with Luke on both accounts. I thought the original parts were molded in colour?

They are moulded in color, but I lifted a layer of clear plastic on one of my lower rear interior panels. It was clear and stretchy and I could have pealed more of it. But I just cut it off close and touched up the one spot.

Aren't these panels reproduced?  I think they are available in black.  Just start with new set of panels and paint them.

Already have the used replacement set at less than half the cost of new ones. My car is the “good enough for who it’s for” type lol.
