My car had front clip removed when I purchased it now working on aligning hood with fenders etc.
my question is where does the hood release handle go? No ‘79’s around that I can look at so I’m here at the forum
I always get an answer here so ‘thanks ‘ in advance!

Here is a diagram out of my 1980 assembly manual. I am pretty sure things are the same 79-81. If this drawing isn't good enough, I could probably snap a few pictures from my car.
View A is the release handle end at the bottom. View B is the latch end at the top. The cable routing is in the center diagram.

That answers everything but is it coming through drivers side signal light/vent?

It is under the front bumper centered. It has a weird retaining clip that holds the cable to the bracket

These are the parts that you will need. Not pictured is the latch itself.

Guys have gone all out on the replies for a change! The small retainer clip at the pull handle end is the same as used on the vent cables on non-AC kick panels, they aren't always listed as both.
apfstg... be sure to check your older posts for replies too.
You can see the sides of the bracket under centre of nose with handle between:

Thanks again for replies I thought bracket under bumper was for a jacking point - this makes more sense. My bracket looks like it rubbed on something. After this repair I’m on to new shocks and brake components on front axle - hope I haven’t missed any responses your help has been invaluable!

I came , asked questions, and put the answers to work - but like my family page I don’t elaborate and it to some it doesn’t sit right -
This forum has helped me immensely and even though I keep it to myself I do appreciate the help!

Haha no, the link! You were asking questions and didn't finish. Wasn't sure if you sorted it out, were still confused or never saw it!

Actually I haven’t tried to assemble yet - trying to make a little money before the snow flies. Now I know why hood pins were invented!
