I was sitting at wawa the other day and there was a lone tesla hooked up to one of the dozen or so charging stations. Then in rolls a van with Tesla Engineering Service painted on the side. He parked beside the car, and got and started communicating with the driver. The van was a Ford!!

Funny!  I guess Tesla doesn’t make a van.

In the early days of gasoline, steam and even a few electric cars, they didn't have tow trucks. I am guessing they used a reliable team of horses to get a tow back to a shop. The guys with the horses probably got a good laugh out of the breakdowns. After all, how often would a horse leave you stranded.

Tesla makes an suv, I think it may their flagship top of the line car. You would think they could convert those to their service fleet. Just very telling of the industry in general.

Actually electric vehicles were quite popular in the early motoring days, and they made large delivery trucks. Their range was very limited and the speeds were quite slow, the cars were marketed towards woman because of their ease of use, no noise and dirt, smoke etc. The delivery trucks were limited to inter city use only. I have seen period pictures of entire fleets of electric trucks. I have a friend whose family owned a brewery in NYC at the turn of the century with an electric fleet.

Tow trucks, thats a whole different animal.

Not really.  The Transit van makes a far better fit for the tasks involved.  Volvo makes a SUV but some dealerships use Dodge 2WD long beds for delivery vehicles.

I saw a fairly new F250 riding down the street Monday with an aftermarket Chevy rim design on it.  I had to take a double take.  Brand loyalty isn't what it used to be.   LOL

Brand loyalty ended in the early 80's (late 70's)

For the first time ever I sat in a Tesla Taxi (this was a first for me being in any elec. car). I found the entire huge screen to be comical and cartoonish. As the driver was weaving in and out of traffic the screen must have showed 10 collisions. I ask the drive what he does when the battery runs out and never got an answer but the heat or any ventilation was not on.

Regards, Jack

I have a very good customer that just bought a new Tesla in December. To date he loves the car but has said it had a couple of minor issues. He was going to take a 3 week road trip. I cant wait to talk to him about his adventure after he does so.
