Looks like a very serious machine. With what I see for wheels, tires, brakes it must really handle well. I am assuming suspension mods as well. Tell us more!
Thanks! It rides much better now than when it was all factory. I started with a very original, number matching 400cid engine and TH350 Transmission. What I have now is what the Bandit really would've liked, at least I really enjoy it now!
I have LS swapped it with an LS3 that puts 450hp to the ground backed by a T56 which has been built to hold the 486ftlb torque, a custom length driveshaft. The rear end is still the Factory 10 bolt with 28 spline shafts but, it now has a Eaton Trutrac differential. Because of the larger PowerStop disc brakes in the rear I have gone to Strange engineering C Clip eliminators. The rear suspension is controlled by UMI leaf springs and traction bars and triple adjustable Viking shocks. I made my own sub frame connectors and the front suspension is the UMI Cornermax system to improve the control of the front tires with a Full coilover set up using Viking triple adjustable shocks.
I mostly track the car but have been driving on the street quite a bit in the last two years, I have 10K miles on the LS swap and haven't ever looked back. I appreciate the Pontiac 400, it just can't ever do what I get out of my LS3.
