19in Snowflake wheels, anyone have them?
« on: November 11, 2022, 06:40:04 PM »
My 79 has 5th gen Camaro Brembo's front and back with 14 in rotors, basically running a 5th gen camaro braking setup on my 79.  That being said, would the 19in snowflakes from yearone clear my braking system? I am currently running19in G8 wheels and they are tucked in 2 inches.

OR

If anyone is running 17 in snowflakes with Brembo's, I am interested in knowing what was done to make these wheels work.

appreciate any info!

I’d recommend to measure it out yourself. The wheel mfg will publish the inner dimensions of the wheel

All they have on their website is the specs of the wheel. 19x9.5 9mm offset, 5-5/8 backspace. I spoke to a rep and he said my brakes won't clear, but saw a guy mount 17in snowflakes with brembos and it cleared. Barely, but it did.

17in snowflake wheels specs are as follows.
17x9
3mm offset
5-1/8

You can hear the rotor touch the pad, but the wheel doesn't scrap the caliper

There's also the offset of the spokes and whether the spokes themselves have the clearance. So you'll need to measure how far past the mounting surface the caliper is.

Bought all my braking system from Scott at bigbrakeupgrade. This is the info he sent me. Same picture, 2 different measurements for front and back. (Speficied in each picture). If anyone is kind enough to get some measurements from their 17in snowflake, that would be awesome.

I would love these wheels myself.  There are some great 275/35-19 tire choices these days.

Yo Jonathon! Glad to see you on here bro. I actually ordered them and should be here tomorrow. I saw a guy mount brembos and use 17in snowflakes. Since those are 3mm offset, and the ones I ordered are 9mm offset, worst case scenario I could run a 8mm spacer and have them clear. Well, atleast I'm hoping this is the case. Soon as I get them, I'll do a test fit and snap some pics and report back here with my findings.  Will also be posting it on the lsx 2nd gen page on FB

That would be pretty amazing if a 14" rotor could fit behind a 17" wheel.

Hey Ryan! Glad to see you here as well, I havent been here since the site shut down. I'm sure the 17s fit, they run a 3mm offset and based off on the wheels i received today, I'm sure the is no problem. My wheels fit, scrapes very little in the front and I will need a 5mm spacer to clear the Brembo properly and the rear clears without a spacer...might just add an 8mm spacer just to have them tuck inside the wheel well.  I'm actually very content with how these wheels look, and once I get tires mounted it should look great. I'm running CPP spindles in the front, they're modified to fit 5th gen Camaro Brembos. I am also running th 5th gen camaro brembo brakes on the rear, along with 5th gen camaro backing plates and parking brake assembly. Here are some pictures of the wheels on the car without tires. It was just to see how much clearance I had.

Thanks! Yea, going to run 275/35/19. You had mentioned it and Nathan kluesner is running that size on his car on the front. Looks pretty good, hoping set up looks and performs good as well.

That will be an awesome tire.  BFG Rival or Falken Azenis 200TW tire in that size and you’ll be good for street, autocross or some road racing.  If purely street, then get anything will work.  That brake setup and those tires will be an awesome setup.

Well, here they are complete 5th gen camaro brembo braking system with yearone 19in snowflake wheels. I think it looks great! Had to remove the 14mm studs and install 1/2 in order to properly make this work. Then cut them down to size. Once done, I proceeded to shave the Brembo Caliper as needed. They're getting painted anyways, so not a big deal. Overall, really happy.
