Anyone know of a place that can restore the wrap on the steering wheel?  This is a 77

There's a few that can redo the stitched leather or a vinyl wrap as per 79 TATA style, but not the regular moulded type with vinyl coating. Depending on the wheel condition they can either re-wrap it or do an exchange wheel.

One of the commonly used ladies is Sue Serafinski, many restoration shopping offering retrimmed wheel services also just go through her. I'm not sure of any recent posts or direct contact.

Sue Serafinski
52220 Hayes Road,
Macomb, MI 48042
(586) 677-2719
e-mail : jserafinski1@sbcglobal.net

Another alternative is this guy, as per thread. But this is still a leather wrap style, not the regular factory wheel finish.

I used Sue to do the wheel for my TATA. She did a great job and I highly recommend her. Turn around time was pretty decent as well. Keep in mind if its a regular wheel the leather wrap will add some thickness.

The only way to "restore" an original wheel to the original molded, non-wrapped cushion with the vinyl overlay would be to purchase a new one, which are allover the place. Otherwise, you'd have to add a leather wrap like what the posts above described. I'd go through Sue since she is able to replicate the TATA style stitching the best. Lecarra does a very high quality wrapped steering wheel, too, but my only beef with theirs is that for some dumb reason, their stitch seam is off center which bothers the heck out of me lol

That part is obviously one of the highest 'wear parts' on the car. I would either get it wrapped or just get a new wheel. I would have doubts that any kind of coating that would be applied would stay there looking good for any period of time. If you have that one wrapped it will be thicker and the bottom seam will protrude a bit, but it will still look a lot better than what you have. A repro will cost about the same as having a wrap done but will look more correct if thats what you are after. IF you are getting it wrapped, you might want to restore or clean the spokes good before you send it out. I was told from Sues rep. that they are not allowed to touch anything but the leather wrapping according to DOT.
