I'd like to make a channel. I need to figure out what camera/audio set up I'll need and be able to create on a computer before uploading.
I need to learn how to do everything. I rented a room to a buddy for about 10 years (lurking member here) who was really good at that stuff who said he'd help me. He died of cancer a few months ago so he can't teach/guide me. He was really into 3D graphics and had serious computers with high end graphics cards, cameras, drones , etc. but sold everything off trying to pay his bills during the last few months of his life. He posted a few 3D VR videos on youtube that are still up under screen name 3DDDude.
Anyone have camera suggestions? My phone is cheap with a potato camera so I don't want to use it and don't even know if I would be able to edit video taken with it anyway.
Hey John!
GoPro actually has what's called a "Creator Edition" package. Me and my wife just picked one up and we've been playing around with it between personal and the car stuff. It's basically the camera plus the typical accessories one would use to make content. I know I'm a Firebird guy at home but I actually watch some Mustang based YouTube channels. Most of those guys use GoPro so I pretty much went that route. As a lot of us here have had the photobucket problem, GoPro has an annual subscription unlimited storage database that's pretty interesting. You basically record pictures/videos with the camera and the camera can automatically uploads your content to directly to your portfolio. It's actually much easier than our now "old-school" Flickr/Photobucket route. Heck, I can even turn the camera on and upload from my phone....crazy how much technology integrates these days.
https://gopro.com/en/us/shop/camerasIn regards to video editing, that's where my major shortcoming is. There are a lot of programs out there and it's kind of overwhelming in that department. I unfortunately am not versed enough on this subject to give advice. If anyone has good advice here, let me know.
On the YouTube side, I think you would just have to visit your old account and start familiarizing yourself with the website. I remember you made a few uploads years ago. I can't recall if it was around then but YouTube now has what's called "YouTube Studio" where you can write video descriptions, upload thumbnail images, etc.
