Anyone on the forum have a YouTube channel?

As much as I like forum information and pictures, it’s cool to see live videos as well.  I’ve had one for a good 10 years but I haven’t done much with it.  I just added a link in my signature if anyone wants to check anything out.  It’s not much between my personal and T/A related content but I plan on making more videos of my car pretty soon here.

I do have one but never made many videos public. Only two in fact. Most others were used for diagnostic type stuff for others to view rather than try to describe things. At one point while trying to get my cruise control working I created a video or two taking apart and showing how the transducer works (and how to test it I think). I thought about doing more oddball stuff like that but I didn’t thing my transducer one was good enough to make public so I never did others.

I hear you on not feeling good enough.  After watching my first video of myself this week, I feel like I’m not a good speaker.  Aside from talking about my car or car-related content through YouTube, I do want to do more videos so I can practice talking clear, concise and minimizing filler “uhhs” and “umms”.

I didn’t mention it but I also just don’t like the sound of my own voice on recordings lol.

To all who have created YouTube videos, thanks and keep it up. I am one of those who can’t walk and chew gum at the same time, I would be afraid of forgetting to torque something down or leaving out a cotter pin. Other than watching reruns of old western themed TV shows, my favorite is YouTube viewing. Not all are great, but it’s amazing just ho good some are.

Absolutely not.  Youtube is an excellent repair resource.  A1Auto makes great tutorials that I've used on my 03 suburb, my daughters 07 g6, etc.  The owner is a huge Pontiac fan too.  I was planning to make videos as I brought my father\son 01 TA back to life.

I will watch u tube if I need a quick tutorial on putting a part together, I really enjoy it for guitar playing stuff, and I will generally click on links that guys on here post. Other than that I dont watch. I cant remember the last time I was on there. My son on the other hand could not live without it. Again, before Jack points it out  I am showing my age.

I'd like to make a channel. I need to figure out what camera/audio set up I'll need and be able to create on a computer before uploading.

I need to learn how to do everything. I rented a room to a buddy for about 10 years (lurking member here) who was really good at that stuff who said he'd help me. He died of cancer a few months ago so he can't teach/guide me.  He was really into 3D graphics and had serious computers with high end graphics cards, cameras, drones , etc. but sold everything off trying to pay his bills during the last few months of his life. He posted a few 3D VR videos on youtube that are still up under screen name 3DDDude.

Anyone have camera suggestions? My phone is cheap with a potato camera so I don't want to use it and don't even know if I would be able to edit video taken with it anyway.

Anyone on the forum have a YouTube channel?

What's a "channel"? You mean like NBC, ABC, CBS, WSBK? YT has one too? :?
I watch YT a lot. (On my computer, not TV) Some of it's entertaining, some annoying. (As is some of the commenters.) Lot of good "how to" info tho.

This basically refer to someone's profile on Youtube.  They have their channel (profile) and post content in the form of video's just like we do on TAC.

Hey John!

GoPro actually has what's called a "Creator Edition" package.  Me and my wife just picked one up and we've been playing around with it between personal and the car stuff.  It's basically the camera plus the typical accessories one would use to make content.  I know I'm a Firebird guy at home but I actually watch some Mustang based YouTube channels.  Most of those guys use GoPro so I pretty much went that route.  As a lot of us here have had the photobucket problem, GoPro has an annual subscription unlimited storage database that's pretty interesting.  You basically record pictures/videos with the camera and the camera can automatically uploads your content to directly to your portfolio.  It's actually much easier than our now "old-school" Flickr/Photobucket route.  Heck, I can even turn the camera on and upload from my phone....crazy how much technology integrates these days.
https://gopro.com/en/us/shop/cameras

In regards to video editing, that's where my major shortcoming is.  There are a lot of programs out there and it's kind of overwhelming in that department.  I unfortunately am not versed enough on this subject to give advice.  If anyone has good advice here, let me know.

On the YouTube side, I think you would just have to visit your old account and start familiarizing yourself with the website.  I remember you made a few uploads years ago.  I can't recall if it was around then but YouTube now has what's called "YouTube Studio" where you can write video descriptions, upload thumbnail images, etc.
