My TATA tribute done my way. Purists strongly cautioned.
« on: June 06, 2022, 04:45:14 PM »
The owner....I'm 53 and I purchased my first Pontiac at 15. A 1967 LeMans. In the 90s I had a 78 Solar Gold TA and kind of got hooked on them. Life, kids, ex's and bills have taken priority until the last couple of years and now it's time to get serious.

The car....this didn't start with a TATA originally. It began as a plain Jane no options 79 with a blown 73 400 and a TH350. I found a 69 428 block and crank and started from there. I started buying just about every part that can be replaced or upgraded. I'll go through more specifics later, but as things progressed I decided I wanted a car with a few more options. A TATA was never on that list but when I ran across this one it had a new home.

The project....This will be more of a restomod. For you purists, I do apologize. It won't be an LS or anything like that. Still all Pontiac powered. As I add to this thread some things will make sense while others may not to certain individuals.

I welcome all comments and hope that I can share some things I learn along the way as well as pick your brains for knowledge. Thanks to all in advance.

I tried to load pics. Guess I'm not doing something quite right. I'll figure it out.

Never mind. Took me a week and a half to get approved and now this? I have no problems posting pics on other sites. Definitely not important enough to me to have to do a song and dance to figure out how to participate. Good luck to all.

Each site does things differently, here you can post pics directly using the "Additional Options..." below or using a hosting site like Flicker. If you want to post pictures directly you have to down size the pictures, otherwise it is typical to other sites/forms.

It would be nice to post your build and share the knowledge, a lot of knowledgeable people on here that are will to help.

Regards, Jack

I also have a TATA restomod.  I am near the the original owner, though, and the car has approximately 40K so it is more just a mod than anything else.

Looking forward to see yours and your build!

What I do personally with all sites that I post to is use Flickr to host the pictures from. I use my phone and can easily upload to flicker, then paste the link here using the [IMG] code. Pretty easy once you get the hang of it.

Hopefully you find a way to post the pictures and stick around. Great forum with great people here. You won't find the sense of community many other places on the internet.  8)

Was thinking the same, but I guess that's what they mean by first impressions. Must have been irritating enough for him...

Well I'll be sure to post my next project on TAC. Just stay tuned haha

Why do purists even matter if it's not even a TATA, just a TA done custom with possibly some influence. That's possibly even better since I wasn't huge on the TATA anyway, it was certain taste that didn't date as well as regular models are was the highest produced 'identical' Firebird model with 2 options.
Straight to Facebook groups then.

The guy had enough will, patience and skills to restore an old car, but "how to post a picture" was too much for him. Weird

I dont want to muddy the waters, I know the fellow, he is a decent guy but I think he was discouraged from the beginning. Sometimes when someone gets a bad taste in their mouth from the onset it only takes a very little slight to deter any future endeavor. Its a shame as I was looking forward to his build thread. Cant win them all.
