What motor exactly did this carb come off? 17058253
« on: April 19, 2022, 05:17:13 AM »
Hey gang,

I've had this carb sitting in the yard for a while, someone is buying a few of my Oldsmobile motors and asked if I had carb too. I had this one floating around, I'm pretty confident it was off one of those motors, but I'm not 100% sure. It's definitely an 800 CFM Rochester Quadrajet. The number on the side of the carb clearly appears to be 17058253, which sounds like a 1978 Firebird 403, but most 1978 Firebirds with a 403 were Californian cars, and they came with the Californian specific carb 17058553. Where else would this carb have been used? H/A? Wouldn't they have used 17058553 carbs too?

As above, fairly standard across the Olds range, of course there was no '78 350 Olds in Firebirds. Looks like it came off a hotrodder, remove the choke plate for instant 50% HP.

Carb was built on the 151st day in 1978. 403 carb. Choke plates an easy fix. I might have enough spare parts if you need it.
