This weekend I ended up buying a 2000 TransAm. I saw it at Cars and Coffee in Las Vegas and noticed a for sale sign on it. I took a look at it and was really impressed with it.
It is a WS6 , Ram Air , 6 speed manual with T tops. It only has 21,100 miles and was really well taken care of. The seller had all the original paperwork, manuals and pretty much everything it came from the dealership. I couldn’t ask for a cleaner car either.
I chatted with the owner and told him I was very interested. Later that morning we met up and I took it for a drive. I really loved every bit about it. So I made an offer and we came to a pretty good deal. Went to the bank, signed some paperwork for the bill of sale and title. I took the long way home and if I could I would have kept driving to an empty tank.
I am really impressed with the performance of the 4th Gen and I am so happy with it so far. Unfortunately, I am going to be away from home for a few weeks due for training with work.
Anyhow, I can’t wait to get back home and get it registered and start driving it!

They were and are a hot looking car. Just live the Ram Air hoods. And a stick too. Looks like a great car!

Nice score! I’d love to have a 98-02 someday. Probably won’t ever happen but I can live vicariously through you guys!

BEST way to get an LS in your car, is to buy car that was engineered to have an LS in it!  Great brakes, handling, AC system, fuel system works smoothly,...  no headaches, just turn the key and drive.

I LOVE my '73 T/A (clone).  But I enjoy driving my '01 Formula even more.

Oh, no need to mention that your car has T-tops - ALL the '98-'02 Trans Ams either were convertibles or had T-tops.  Only way to get a non T-top LS1 Firebird, was to order a Fomula.  Less than 400 "hardtop" (no T-top) '98-'01 Formulas were made (none in '02).  Here is pic of mine.  I bought it last year with just 29k on the odometer.

Never was a fan of computerized cars, but when these came out, I told the Mrs., "I'm gunna own that car....in about 20 yrs".
And here we are, 20 yrs later, and I still can't afford them. With a stick shift, they're still 20-30K, depending.
this car is phenomenal. I would be like a kid at Christmas, waiting to get home to it. Super sweet.

My late wife had a 2002 Camaro with 3.8 5 speed and T-tops - fun car to drive! 

Even better as neither of her kids could drive a stick!   :lol:

She did that on purpose, as with the 2004 GTO.
