2022 Nationals
« on: August 05, 2021, 04:56:08 PM »
I'm guessing that the 2021 show has come and gone. When and where will the 2022 show be held?

The 2021 Trans Am Nationals will be August 27 - 29 in Fairborn, Ohio (north side of Dayton).
The Nationals are always the fourth weekend of August, and always in the Dayton area. It will probably be in Fairborn again.
See the Trans Am Nationals website for information. https://tanationals.org/

Well, I am starting to get excited!  I finally received an email from the Homewood Suites saying the hotel burnt and was closed (which happened in 2019).

Would be nice to get back to The National's. Been about 10 years since I have been. Had some good times, especially the Drury Inn Years.

Drury Inn 2007-2008 was the best time ever! 75 cars on the back lot as a mini car show 3 nights in a row. Every one cool and respectful.
I guess the pictures are gone forever, but the memory is still there. TAC and 78TA combined to make it a great weekend for sure.

I guess you all see this, but the Windham is not full, the Red Roof seems not to be full, and across the interstate footbridge, there are 3 hotels within walking distance over there.

I'll be there in spirit, thinking of you guys that still go. Might make 2023 in person if a member on here takes his newly restored 79 S/E. I have been helping him get it back together through IM and a couple phone calls. What goes here, how does that mount up type of questions the past 3 years. He goes by SALLY on here. Going to be a sweet ride when it's just about done.

I always say I want to go but never do (and I live relatively close, Toledi, Ohio area).

I'd love to meet up with some of the folks on here too, many have been very helpful in my restorations. I should just put it in pen for next year.

Don’t feel bad. I’ve been wanting to go for the last 12 years, even if just for a day, and never made it so far. I wanted to check out the Pontiac Nationals in Norwalk this year too but my vacation overlapped it. Same with Roadkill Nights in Pontiac, Mi (for any Roadkill fans that may be here)

The same here - maybe next year but that will most likely not happen...

So far everything is a "go" for the car this year.  Last year- 2 days before we were leaving to head there- the car developed some serious overheating issues.  I tried to remedy it right up until the night before, but ended up cancelling.   Here's hoping for decent weather and no issues.

Man, how the times have changed. One week to go and the chatter on the Nats thread looks like tumbleweeds blowing down a deserted dirt street. The pool party movie at the Fairfield back in 2006 was epic. Drinking beers in the pool while we all watched Smokey and the Bandit on a bedsheet for a screen. 2007-2008 the MONSTER all Trans Am car shows every night at the Drury hotel. 65-80 birds took over the parking lot at night after spending all day on the show field at the airport hotel. The names and the faces may fade over time, but those were some of the best times to be a Trans Am owner. Finally getting the monkey off my back in 2010 with a 2nd place in S/E class of 22 Bandit cars. Owe that one to George Berg and his magic touch.
TAC and 78ta.com merged forces for a few years and there was nothing like it since!!   Enjoy the weekend, it goes so fast until the next one.

Keep the shiny side up and the dirty side down, we 10-10 on the side......

Last Nationals my wife and I were at was 2005. Can't believe its taking this long to get back. My plan is to be out there next year with my almost completed 79Y84 SE. It is now drivable with a few bugs to iron out yet, but very close. Finally received my new door panels last week. It took a full year to get them. Tom has been a big help to me answering a lot of my questions over the last two years as the car has been put back together.
One of these nights this winter when things slow down I will post my rebuild pics.
Have fun at the Nationals to all who are going! See you next year!
