A challenge

I have looked high and low for a 1975 Trans Am plastic model kit. That would be preferred, however, I could cobble together a 1975 Formula and a 1976 Trans Am. Anyone have any leads I could follow up on to complete my quest?

Rich, models just don't seem to have the interest like they did when we were young....ger. I haven't seen lots of that year, but more of the Smokey ones. I'll try keeping an eye out for them, cause a few places I have seen car models in was Michaels. Good luck in your hunt.

There is a 74 T/A model kit on eBay right now (from Germany). You would need to do a rear window swap to turn this into a 75.

One of those Otaki 74 kits is on ebay, motorized.  That would be the ultimate.  Shipping from Japan, though.

Thanks guys, ya, keep a look out in your journeys to swap meets, etc. Budget wise, I'd say $50 or so, it isn't a "have to have" project, just would be cool to have one to match my car.

You may check with MCW Finishes, they were working on producing a resin 74 Trans Am model. I believe it is based on the current MPC 77/78 kit. If so you could use the resin nose, bumper, shaker and hood with a donor MPC kit. You could message them and see of this is feasible. Here is a link to their site:

Not sure if you have seen it, but there is a show on Motortrend called Steve Magnante's Super Models and he basically does what you are trying to. Making a model car of a production car that maybe was never put into a model before. Mix and match parts to create his vision. I watched one and it was pretty interesting. Good luck!
