What is the correct 1977 Trans Am shaker scoop for my car?
« on: July 17, 2021, 04:25:57 PM »
According to the  PHS, my 1977 Trans am was built in the first week in April, 1977. Which shaker scoop would be correct ? I have both and want to put the correct one on. Thanks in advance for any input!

I think the early cars had the low shaker. Mine is 3rd week of Sept with a low scoop. I would imagine by April it would be the larger, but I dont know for sure.

Hi Roadking, thanks for the reply. I did find this info:

John Witzke has this info listed in his W72 document:

Early 1977 -

   400 - 547014 (listed) 547021 (molded)
   403 - 547015

Mid 1977 -

   400 - 10002474 / 549553
   403 - 10002473

Late 1977 -

   400 - 549533 supersceded by 1001 0213 for 1978

So I guees now I need to figure out where in production mine was built. What is considered early, mid and late production? Cant find the production dates anywhere.

I would think without a vin list, and then being able to see what cars have what it may be hard to pinpoint exactly when early, mid and late occur.  Production starts in Sept, and ends in late July early Aug? (I assume theres some shut down/change over time). I would say an April build would be mid production. I would consider June/July late production, JMO. I thought the only diff was between the early early low scoop and the later higher scoop, thinking that most 77 and 78 were the same.

Somehow or another I heard a date for the non-decorated (like 1978) shaker changeover, and I think it was May 10th or June 10th.  I wonder where I got that.
