I read this brood is going to be off the hook.
I don't mind them.

I remember as a kid coming home from vacation and hearing them and my dad telling me what they were.
There were two trees outside my bedroom window so I went and slept on the couch.
There was a stained glass window in the living room there an the moonlight cast the colors on the wall opposite to me..
Sounds surreal, and it was.
I can picture it to this day and really don't mind the racket.
We must be a bit behind due to the geographic difference.
I'm in NNJ

Just sayin

We normally don't see them, just hear them in the fall. When we were kids we didn't want to hear them as that ment school is back. We'd find their sheds but that was about it.

What is it?

On a related note, I forced inside yesterday, as I was getting bitten by mosquitos, blackfly swarms, horse flies and deer flies!!!

Had itchy welts all over the place.

I find the horse flies the worst as they are the biggest and like to take chunks out of you

Cicadas,  they are on their 17 yr cycle or something like that. I think they are usually around but this year is a peak. The air is thick with them. Fortunately all they do is make noise. I have heard horror stories about the flies in the Great White North!

Yeah

blackflies thick enough that you need to breath through your teeth to filter them out, enough mosquitos to drive you mental just from them buzzing around you, etc etc.

I wish I was exaggerating but alas, I am not!!

So…..this is new. Uncovered my car tonight and see this large beetle of some sort on my roof. I swatted it off (and couldn’t find it thus no picture) before I noticed it must have been trapped in my cover or something and trying to get out and managed to scratch my roof. A little buffing compound helped take it out a bit but it’s still there. Haven’t had that happen before but that was annoying.

Picture is before the compound but was hard to get my phone to focus

Ha! Thanks. I can’t be mad at the place that painted my car. I really think I got my money’s worth. That said, there were some minor flaws in it. It’s definitely not a show quality job as its accumulated some chips and scratches over the last 6-8 years or however long it’s been. It’s not perfect but I try to balance taking care of it without being afraid to drive it.

Ya, that stinks. You should try "Wizards Mystic cut" and "Wizards Mystic Polish". Those are the best ones I have found for black.

By the way, I have to check out your car sometime.  If you're ever out near Whitehouse, give me shout. I'll PM you my number.

Ooo I might have to try that. I’ve been wanting to try something new to buff with. I’ve used a DA with some success but I don’t think it has what it takes to do what I want. I’ve also been hesitant for fear of how the decals would be affected if I got some compound on them by accident.

And yea that would be cool. I don’t get out to there too often but last night did take 24 to the exit near Kroger and cut through Waterville over to Wood County then down along River road. I used to live over that way.
