Been plugging away slowly and was able to accomplish another major step...

Not only did I pour the step that will transition from the upper section down to the lower, I have completed leveling the main floor! That was the last main thing that I wanted to get done since the weather has been slowly turning colder at night... Been below freezing a few nights now in a row. Good thing is I was able to get the steps poured before the it dipped below freezing.

Next up is to throw up some walls, cover them with OSB, and then building wrap. Hopefully I can do that in the next few weeks since I don't want to be freezing doing it... There's also the garage door that I'd like to at least get installed and functional before we get snow... Lots to do.

Lastly, I was able to pick up this really nice table from my buddies dad who is moving to Florida. (lucky...) He's a tall guy like me and built the top nice and high. No more bending over for me! It's really rugged, he just didn't want to move it down there. Best part is it's on casters so I can put it in that front room and roll it out of my way if I need to.

Got a little more done, and the garage is that much closer to being closed in. I put a board up on the upper section above the rear garage door. I was able to get that piece up in two cuts, so I'm pretty happy with that.

Then I finished the sides, and wrapped what was done. The side to the right I left open for now because I still need to frame up a wall and connect it to what I have existing. That will be a little tricky, so I left it open for now to give it some thought.

I was going to get the rest of my 2x4's and a few more sheets of plywood over the weekend, but had the kiddos with me. They didn't have enough patience for that after we got groceries. I'm hoping that the weather holds out for next weekend and I can get everything enclosed. I also need to think about a few windows to brighten it up in there.

I got excited yesterday and wanted to see how the doors would look installed. I wanted to mock up the tracks because the left side in the picture needs to be modified quite a bit, but threw the other side on just because. I got excited and before I knew, they were all installed haha. They will need to come off to be adjusted, but at least now they will stop the wind/rain/snow.

Then it started snowing and I saw this really nice sunset. I'm not a photographer, but this was a cool picture.

Thanks guys. Hoping to grab a few more sheets of plywood and 2x4's this weekend. It shouldn't take me too long to frame up the walls and put the plywood up. And my pneumatic staple gun works so much quicker than the handheld one I have. Got that one on sale at Lowe's for $24 bucks.

I finally went to Lowe's on Saturday and got the materials that I needed. I started plugging away at framing up the walls.

Once I framed up the one wall, I decided to add the upper sections of the OSB plywood to the other sections of walls. This part goes so quickly because it's just two cuts and some screws, then you have a finished wall.

I framed up the last section of the long wall and about that time the boys woke up from nap and came out to help me. I let them help tap in nails that hold up the flashing after I cut it.

It was dinner time as I finished up the lower flashing and after the boys went in to eat, I quickly threw up a short section of the house wrap to help protect the lower section of the plywood. I'm going to leave that lower section because I want to add some windows in on one of the walls so I don't want to make more work for myself later on. It should be easy enough to add next spring/summer.

I'm so happy to have it look like a complete wall now! I've been looking at this for 2 years now, with various doors or wood leaned up against it. I want to get some ladder racks, and hangers to organize things on the back side of the garage. I think I'm just going to get some barn boards for the back and paint it something close to the siding color. That way I can easily add some hooks and hangers without having to worry about the siding leaking or anything. I also need some gutters.

I've got some time off now around Thanksgiving so I should be able to get the last section of wall finished. Then the real work begins because I need to figure out the wiring, lights and getting organized! Also the back garage door is only temporarily up because I need to modify the track on the one side because of how tight it is to the one side. If I can get that done this week too it would be great so I can move my lawn tractor up there which will free up a ton of room.

I was able to get a few days to work on my garage and made a ton of progress. It took me two days (working a few hours during naptime) to get the big wall framed up. I'm not a contractor, so I'm just learning it all as I go.

Once the walls were framed, I was able to get the OSB up pretty quickly. I still had to figure out how to frame up and tie it into the upper section. I finally came up with a plan and made it happen.

I got the OSB installed just in time for the snow! So glad that I pushed as hard as I did the last few weekends and during the few days I had off around Thanksgiving!

Then finally yesterday I was able to get the flashing installed and the big wall wrapped up. What a relief! I need about another hour and I can get that last section filled in with OSB and it will be 100% sealed up. I know that if I don't seal that up now, I'll have birds making nests somewhere. With the cold and snow, I'm loosing motivation pretty quickly.

The only thing left that I want to do to the building this year is add some wiring for lights and get the back garage door functional. It's so dark now that it's all enclosed. I already have lights on the side that I just enclosed, but they need to be re-wired to a light switch I'm going to install by the pedestrian door. I also want to add two additional lights and want them to all come on with one switch.

That's likely the last update until spring. I'd like to get the side I just enclosed sided to match the front, and then the back wall be board and batten. That way I can add hooks and hangers to get my ladders and other big tools out of the garage.

Thanks Mike! Like you said, I'm just happy to have it weathered in. My neighbor is going to sell me his old pellet stove so I'll have heat. Without insulation though, it is pretty much useless at this point haha. It's weird, but it actually feels bigger inside the garage now that it's all finished inside.

And if you have ever purchased a previously owned "Anything" you find out real quick just how good they were at that one area of "Expertise"....lol....

Thanks Jonathan, I appreciate the compliment.

It's very temporary, but I finally have some lights again! Now I can see what I'm doing and can make some progress over the winter. It will be nice having a space to cut grind and weld where I don't have to worry about fumes coming into the house!

I need to find some time to get the rear garage door modified and installed so I can open it up and park my lawn tractor in there. Then I need to find some time to close off that last section of the back wall. Otherwise, I'm done working on the building for now. I'll be re-arranging everything and generally cleaning up.
