Carburetor Recommendation - Pontiac 462
« on: April 06, 2021, 06:52:19 PM »
Hi All,

I have the following set up/specs and looking for recommendation for a carburetor. Car will be 100% street. According to the calculators it states 770 CFM to 850 CFM, mostly Holley comes up. Not interested in EFI as mine has been nothing but trouble and going back to a carb. Rear gears are 3.42 and TKO600 5-speed. Thanks all in advance!

The new Summit carb is well received.  A friend with a 428 powered Firebird gave up on Holleys and ran this:

He is very happy with it.

I just bought a Holley Street Avenger myself.   770cfm, electric choke, vacuum secondary and 4150 dual metering blocks.  You'll pay a premium for Holley name but this one I ordered was actually in stock.  Many carburetors and EFI system are on back order right now.

A cool looking new carburetor company I would look into is FST.  The bowl plugs for easy jet changes and screw-in air bleeds look like nice overall features to make tuning easier.

Thanks for the recommendations - I was leaning towards the Holley 770 Avenger and sounds like it will work well on the 462. I'll check out the Summit one since I never considered them,
