455 HO Exhaust Cross-Over Heat Shield Questions
« on: April 03, 2021, 02:15:15 PM »
Howdy.

Would anyone happen to know what hardware is used to hold the heat shield onto the exhaust crossover on the 1971 - 72 455 HO aluminum intake manifold set up? I have an original manifold and cross-over, and ordered the heat shields from Ames, but they don't come with hardware.
Picture for reference:

Also, what is the correct finish for the heat shields? They come in a kind of grey paint, which could be primer. I would think that the originals would have been plated, but I'm not sure.

I think the anchors were called rivets.
They look like cut nails.

Perfect, thank you! That makes a lot of sense.

Do you happen to remember how the heat shield was finished? I would expect some kind of tin plating, like on the exhaust heat risers?

Like the heat risers that cover the exhaust manifolds. Hope that helps.
