Just a quick update! (edit: The post became long winded so grab a coffee)

Percy the Great Dane didn't work out as the more comfortable he became, the possessive he was of my wife. His unprovoked attacks on my Hanako were increasing, he had attacked my sisters dog, and the incredible stress that was in the house was unbearable. We tried but it was effecting my relationship with my wife and my dog, and him and I never did gel. Fortunately the original rescue family were more than willing to take him back and I wrote them a page long behavior analysis of what to expect from Percy. The stress levels have dropped to almost nonexistent levels and we learned a lot from the experience.

The desk has been completed and delivered and my daughter absolutely loves it which to be honest meant a lot to me and seeing her joy made me shed a tear.

That picture fame looking shroud just under the glass kicked my butt for a month and half but through perseverance and compromise I prevailed!

As far as the snow machine work, well after agreeing to a plan, and making what I thought was a commitment, the guy ghosted me!! He never delivered the snow machine, never returned the 3 attempts I made to communicate with him, nothing!! It's annoying as I didn't really want to do the work to start with and I agreed as a favor then the guy doesn't even have the decency to tell me he wants to find other arrangements. Oh well, trying to let it go but I'm apparently insulted. I can only assume it's because I'm not a licensed mechanic and he is apprehensive about letting me do the work. I was up front with him about that but at least tell that other arrangements were made.

Anyway, I have freed up some time in my busy schedule and I decided to take a few days just to relax, alone.

I'll also be starting the educational path to become an electrician which will be payed for by W.S.I.B. I have been off since least February with mental health issue but now that things have improved in that department, and I don't need to go bac to the Jail, my stress levels have plummeted drastically.

I look forward to this challenge and it also makes me look good for the Ontario government to reassign me in another department all together where by I get to keep my pension and vacation time that I've accumulated. All good in theory and no time to let up as this will be an incredible challenge but one that will be very worth it for me and my retirement goals.

There we go...all caught up and I will be starting to work on Ruby now after I get the walls up and drywalled in my parents basement. Nothing too time consuming there or difficult. Should be a quick job for them!!

Sorry things didnt work out the way you thought, but reducing the stress is good on any level. Glad you have found a positive path forward with your career. Keep us up to date on how things are working out. I like the sentence, I dont have to go back to jail (that would relieve my stress as well). Of course I know you were a correctional officer

Tool Update!

I've been keeping an eye out on eBay for a tool that I have wanted for a very long time and finally found a deal on one. Mastercool makes a lot of very nice tools and I've always had my eye out for one of their hydraulic flaring tools. They retail for around $400 new, and used aren't usually much cheaper. I've seen a few on eBay go for around $350, but still more than I wanted to pay. I ended up finding one that was listed on eBay under a NAPA flaring tool part number, but was actually the Mastercool 72475! It was listed buy it now for $259, but had an offer option. I put in an offer for $200 bucks, and they accepted! So stoked! They said in the ad that it was used, but everything looked new, so if it was it was only used a handful of times.

It does such a nice job on double flare brake lines! Wow, very impressed.

Not only does it do the brake lines, but will do a GM quick connect fuel lines. Will come in handy for future LS swaps! Left is the one I made and right is a factory crimp.

It can also do GM transmission fittings, which I believe are also the same as the PS fittings too.

I know that I won't use this tool that often, but it's something I'll have for the rest of my life. I can't wait to do a set of brake lines or fuel lines now! Another cool thing is that this will flare stainless too because the hydraulic has so much more pressure. So I could make some stainless brake lines or fuel lines if I wanted to. Although I'd still probably go with NiCopp since it's just so easy to work with.

You will love this flaring tool. Its effortless and does a great job on steel or stainless steel lines. I bought the same one at least 15 years ago. I paid $200.00 at the time and it was a great deal as they were selling for much more. We inherited a full sized Mercury from my mother in law when she stopped driving. All the steel brake lines from front to back were complete rusted out. I bought some bulk line and did all the ISO flares.
The only complaint is it’s bulky when trying to do flares in tight spaces while working on the car. It’s not an inexpensive tool but Over the years has paid for itself many times.

Nice lookin flarer RG. You did well. I fought with lines my entire life with those cheaper ones, and always thought about investing in something more professional. I don't remember seeing this tool available, back in the day, but if you have a long automotive life ahead of you, you just saved yourself from a garage echoing new 4 letter words, on many jobs to come. (Thumbs up)

Well, I think I am now over covid... It wasn't that bad but there are still some lingering affects. Day one and two were the worst, 104° fever and spent a lot of time in the bathroom. Couldn't even stand or walk. By day 5, I was pretty much back, even went riding (snowmobiling). Still have a slight cough and lose my sense of taist randomly. I did have the vaccine so I attribute that the to quick recovery as well as letting my body fight it without drugs to reduce the fever or mask the systems. This is something I normally don't do but I thought the high fever would burn the virus to death, maybe it worked maybe it's in my head. But hey, I'm back!

Glad to hear you are getting better Luke. My grandson was sent home from school thursday, cant return until Monday if he is fine. He was 'in contact' with someone that tested positive. Thats all they tell us. Would be nice to know a bit more detail. He is feeling fine and no signs of sickness, the wife and I are both vaccinated and boosted but my son is not. He is a bit paranoid right now.

Glad your all ok. Two weeks ago same thing, grandson sent home because of not feeling well at school. My wife and I were at there house the day before having dinner and I was with him most of the time goofing off and what not. He was tested the next day and was positive. He's ok and back to school. My wife and I tested and were negative as was the rest of his family. This Covid thing is getting old, however it's not going away.

Glad to hear that you recovered quickly Tom. My family and I were so cautious and even then we still got it last year at the end of February (before we could get vaccinated). My wife and I shared similar experiences as you, but we still can't smell the same. Lots of smells returned, but many things smell different. Like bananas, gasoline, nail polish and pine trees all have the same weird sour smell to me now.

Gave my notice of retirement, last day is May 10th 2022, Started with Borden Chemicals on July 7th 1982. The company has been bought/sold a couple times (raped and picked clean buy KKR and Apollo including Chapter 11, finally to be refinanced buy the creditors, mostly Banks and then sold again) The name has changed a few times and is currently Hexion Chemicals, we have always been quite profitable and solid, even while under the control of the financial rapists. A College Friend and I have stuck with them trough it all. So after 39+ years of shift work and supervising, I finally get to have control of when I get up in the morning and what I will do each day. My wife and I are going to Mexico for a couple weeks before I finish off, as I want to escape the last of a challenging winter.

The T/A gets to be a top priority now, so hopefully I stay healthy for a while and I can finish what I started and make it what I want.

My wife wants to travel and we have Grandkids scattered in Canada and the US to visit, I still have some rental properties to look after as well, so the car won’t get all my time and money, but it will get a lot more than it did for the past five years.

Enjoy your well deserved retirement with your grandkids, traveling and TA. I retired about 3 1/2 years ago. It’s not just about being free to do what you want when you want, it’s also about the reduced stress.

I was finally able to get working on my engine rebuild, and found out that the second set of main bearings I ordered for my 301 are wrong. It's been a few months and I'm not sure Summit will take them back and exchange them.

For a brief moment I was contemplating an LS swap while I was in my moment of frustration.......NO...not there yet!!

On a completely new topic, I have applied to go back to college and get my electricians ticket so that I can change careers!! that will start in September!

Also, I am going to be opening up my own dojo in my community as well as continuing to teach in town Sudbury MMA. I have space that will be affordable inside a fitness center and the owner is willing to help me going during the process.

Oh yeah, and as far as the Miata goes I finally replaced the clutch rod and have that adjusted properly to taste. I also did the shifter rebuild with a bronze bushing, then changed out the Synchromesh for Red Line MTL. It shifts like an absolute dream now, especially when downshifting two or three gears rapidly. Then I did this the other day because f*** coated bulbs that fail all the time:

Took the fiancée to test drive a '97 SC400 at a "buy here pay here" lot, it was all original aside from the stereo but you could tell it has lived a rough life. Worn interior, heatshield and interior rattles, all electric motors were slow and catching(passenger mirror didn't work at all), clunky going into drive and reverse, needed brakes and suspension, door handle assembly wasn't smooth and hinges needed refurbished, etc...

At least she knows she likes them now, so there's that. Going to find a GS400/430 so that she can decide between them.
