Y84 mods and your thoughts
« on: July 27, 2020, 11:46:55 AM »
Posing a potentially dangerous question here. I have a 1980 Y84 originally a turbo car that the motor was replaced long before me. So my question is this I am more of a fan of the shaker hoods over the turbo bulge hoods. How much negative hit to the potential value do you think there is of switching hoods and set ups with correct scoop decals. The bulge hood does have a small dent for the previous owner but otherwise good. I am just looking for opinions/thoughts

I dont think it will hurt the value at all. I love the tubo hoods and would like to get my hands on one
Your car has already been modified so no big deal. In fact the value may have been increased a bit with the motor upgrade.

appreciate your thoughts! That was kind of where my mind was - didn't think it would hurt it at this point

X2 with turbo motor gone, shaker hood that matches new motor is next best thing.

Are you building the car for an investment or for your enjoyment.  Sounds like the later, so do what you want.  Personalize it.  That way, you'll never want to sell it.

....Unless you drop an LS in it, then all bets are off.  lol... :P

Not hard to store the original hood and air cleaner setup to switch back if you ever wanted to. I say shaker hood if that’s what you want.

Like the rest have mentioned, it's your car and do what you want to be able to enjoy it and storing the old parts in the event you decide to get rid of it will help a potential buyer and their wants.

I also don't believe it will effect the value of it.
