« on: May 21, 2020, 06:23:47 PM »
Hi  my  name is  John  and I reside in Australia, this is my first post.I own a 74 Firebird I purchased in 1979 that is my pride and joy ,my question is I just purchased  two second hand taillamps and had them restored.I have undone the retainings nuts but can't get the old taillight to clear the rear bar my question is do I have to remove  the rear bar or is there a trick to it? Thanks John

They tuck in behind that area. On later years you often need to allow the bumper cover to be loose at the top, 74 probably similar especially if you have already found this, just different bumper styles.

Welcome to TAC!  I think you will have to lower the bumper a little, and I hope it goes easily.  The hardware on them is not always that easy to loosen up.
