It's a SD performance top end, 305 CFM D port heads, old faithful 2.0 hydraulic roller cam, ported intake and a Butler 4 bolt forged short block. We were a bit set back with the numbers when it was ran. Butler was thinking 525 - 550 hp and we blew that out of the water. With a intake swap to a single plane it will make 670 hp but this is already a bit much for the 73. I was honestly considering selling it because it's a bit too much for my car.

That thing is a work of art and amazing numbers to say the least! If you do sell it someone will get a beast of a Poncho!

I'm running SD's 315cfm edelbrocks with the same cam and cnc ported HO intake. Dave said it's only good for 570 HP. How did you get that much more out of almost the same combo with heads flowing less? Dave only get 600HP using the road paver cam.

Dave knew from the start the engine would break 600 hp. I'm not sure what you have as a whole package? There are several other factors to make that power. My compression ratio is 11.5:1 for starters.  8-)

I almost forgot... I don't think your cam is the same as mine? My cam is specific to my heads and only offered with this package.

Just out of curiosity what does a beast like this cost?

That's a bit tough, if you built one just like it I would say 21K. i didn't pay anything for it, yes it was a freebie as traveling has it's perks. 8-) I used my corporate card points over time and used my per diem. It took me about four months living cheap to pay the short block off. The top end I pre paid using points a year prior, I was on a waiting list for SD performance with a deposit for about 7 months and nearly a year before I had all the goods. It was a long process start to finish at about a year and a half until I took delivery.  Heck even Butler is a scheduled event, these guys have strong businesses.

Wow,

Very impressive numbers and looks great. Will this be installed in a street or strip car? Looking forward to seeing and hearing more once it’s in your car.

cool motor, but that is a lot of coin.  I was looking on their site and a crate motor is about 13k.  That sure seems like a lot given you can buy a new LS motor for around that.
