Concert tickets
« on: January 08, 2020, 09:14:49 AM »
A few days ago I grabbed some nice seats in Nashville for the Arena Tour in June.  Motley Crue, Def Leppard, Poison and Joan Jett.   Trivia:   I took my then-girlfriend (now wife) to see Joan Jett back in ‘82 on her first tour.   Here we go 38 years later right back where we started lol

What was it like having dinosaurs as pets back then?

Just kidding  :D

I went to the farewell Motley Crue concert a few years back (even then, I knew they'd be back). It was a good show. Alice Cooper was the best part though in my opinion.

We did The Final Tour twice- once in Nashville and several months later in Indiana, just in case they really did split for good.  You are right-  Alice Cooper’s opening act was the best part.  And his lead guitarist Nita Strauss is out off this world.  I’ve been FB friends with her a long time , before she got so famous

I wanted to see Def Leppard and the one handed drummer but I think I missed them as they already went through the New England area.

Way cool!  My wife’s first concert was “Foghat” when she was in high school, I was able to take her to see them last year up here. Quite a scene watching people with walkers and O2 tanks jamming to “Slow Ride”.

Jack the tour Yeti posted about with crue, Def leppard, poison, and Joan Jett comes to Fenway in August.  My brother gave me tickets for Xmas.

Alice always puts on a great show.  I’ve seen him a number of times over the years going back to the original welcome to my nightmare tour.  He’s still got it.  Yes Nita Strauss is fantastic and she plays the guitar awesome too.

Good to know, I'll look for tickets and see if I can see a bunch of old people trying to act as if it's still the 80s... me included.

The drummer in the Blackhearts was in my front yard this morning.

Michael's a neighbor buddy and stopped when he was walking to the local car stereo shop to pick up his car.

I was wanting to take the wife to that but the tickets were a little rich for my blood and we'd seen Def Leppard back in 92 when we were dating.  We settled for Chicago/Rick Springfield.  I know, let the razzing begin, but we're gonna have a fun special date night come June.

I just heard that a second show was added in Boston so I will most likely go and see them assuming I can convince my wife or one of my kids to go with me.

Im with you GTA Bill, my music tastes growing up was 60's and 70's stuff, I had 4 older siblings and inherited their music collections and tastes. I dont care much for the 80's stuff although there was some good music that came from that era. Your post reminded me that I have been to a concert within the last 20 years. We saw Kansas and 38 special at a small theatre in Lancaster. Place only holds like 1500 people and theres not a bad seat in the house. They have a lot of 'has been' performers there that I would like to see but the tickets usually average $150! It will take a special performer to get me to part with that kinda loot!
Also saw Elton John in Vegas a number of years ago. Expensive but one of the best shows I have ever seen.

My problem is that I never had the time or money to see the 80s bands back in the 80s, I like some of them and will only go to see the 80s bands that my kids like as well. Yes its expensive but so was $20 back when I was only making $5 an hour.

BTW I can't stand Motley Crue...

Well, I'm kind of a child of the 80s (graduated HS in 1990), but my music tastes are all across the spectrum ranging from Michael Buble, Harry Connick Jr and the original Rat Pack,  Brian Setzer and Reverend Horton Heat, ABBA and the Bee Gees, Chicago and Earth Wind and Fire, pretty much anything Hair Metal, Erich Church, Blackberry Smoke and Midland (check Midland out.........way country music should be), to movie scores......its all over the place.  Speaking of movie scores, the wife and I are going to see the KC Symphony play the whole movie score of Pirates of the Caribbean...Curse of the Black Pearl while its playing on the big screen.  Should be pretty cool.

I graduated in '82 my tastes are a bit different. My oldest brother graduated in '72 and the rest of my siblings were closer to him than myself. I grew up listening to Alice Cooper, Led Zep., The Who, Stones, CSNY, Black Sabbath, Grateful Dead, etc. Most of my music choices came as hand me downs. I still have all of those albums going back to the '60's. Between them and what I bought I must have 300-400 of them (actually I gave them to my son who listens to them now).

I still have my pioneer direct drive turntable that I bought while in college in the early 80s.  I had to buy a separate preamp module to use it with a newer receiver without the “phono” input.  We saw Bad Company this past August and before the show I fired up the turntable and cranked some  Bad Co.  going old school!  It still sounds great.
