Show us those engine bays
« on: November 24, 2019, 01:43:41 AM »
As I disassemble my engine and subframe, It leaves me wondering what to do with it as it goes back together. My Original plan was to paint it Pontiac blue (which I like), but my son wishes me to paint the block to match the colour of the car...no not rusty...I thought a thread on everyone's engine bays would be a cool place to start gathering ideas!!

so please, show me your engine bays...show worthy or otherwise, lets see them all

Ill start with my sad looking mess

Mine will have body color inside hood with semi flat black inner fenders & core support. Bottom of floor is body color like the trans tunnel.

Thanks!  The LT1 plenums seem to oxidize worse than the TPI plenums.  I use Adams all purpose cleaner(don't let it sit too long) and wipe it off with a terry cloth towel.  That keeps it bright.  Our Aztek has a raw aluminum upper intake that was oxidized so I used a Brillo pad to scrub after applying the all purpose cleaner.  Works really well.

Another nice looking 'bay. I need to do a once over on mine. It looks pretty decent but just doesn't have that 'pop'. What can I do to clean up the fan shroud. That seems to be the weak point.

Clean well with soap and water. Use some type of plastic/trim restoring wipe.

My 68
My friend, when he owned the car, decided to paint the engine red to match the car.
