Hershey - Macho T/a
« on: October 14, 2019, 07:14:14 AM »

Saw this in the corral at Hershey this past weekend. No. 13, 1979. He wanted about 30k for it. Def looked like it was in original condition.

$30k seems high for the condition.  The hood looks bad so I can imagine what’s underneath.

Still, nice car.

Oh baby that's the stuff, give it to me! 400/4-Speed? I can see racing seats in there.

Yeah look that thing looks boofed for $30,000. Would I still buy it? ....Yes. Is it worth that price? No. After I buy one, sure let them ask tens of thousands for them, hike the price up as much as you want.  :P Honestly tho, you'd think they'd be worth more, but look how they sell at auction... not as high as you'd expect.

I love that colour scheme and stripes, I'd love to see more pics so I can plagari- ... uh, be "inspiried" by those decals for my F/A

It def. looked to be in original condition. Hood was rusted through, and the interior was pretty roached, but it was complete. Only thing that attracted me was it was No. 13, my lucky number. I too thought it was priced considerably high. I think that price would be more in line with a restored macho, not sure that one in original condition as bad as this one was, is worth it. I dont really care for them other than the historical aspect. I only saw a couple more T/A's there. There was a 79 se for around 30k, a perfect 74 super duty that was close to 80k and a dealer had a 69 T/A for 110k.
And I think this macho was an auto,

Absolutely.  The history is cool. I wouldn't think that car would be worth anything over 10k though and that might be high. The low number is cool too.

I always thought the name was funny and I don't think I can tell anyone that I have a Macho car... WTH, where they inspired by the Village People?

Absolutely Jack. 'Macho' was a very hip term in that time period. Not much different than a decade earlier when  'The Judge'  was named after a TV skit!

I just hope that DKM used the name before the Village People...

Lol they were talking about that on the Macho Owners FB page, that's a bit extreme, but all the best to them, I do think the Macho T/A's are a bit undervalued. $120,000 is a 100> mile Special Edition car.

Acutally reading through that listing, heaps of that is total BS. If a car was a '78 and could be ordered with the WS6, every Macho T/A I have seen has the WS6. Likewise, almost every single '78 I have seen bar the one I tried to buy had the W72 engine unlike what the seller claims. Not to mention, I have seen more of them with A/C and deluxe interior than I have seen Macho T/A's without them. I genuinely think they have no idea what they have, not in the sense because they have undervallued it (lol obviously), but because they must think this is on another level of rare and exotic. In terms of Macho options, this has substaintially few of the special and kinky DKM gear like the Turbo Force, a Doug Nash 4+1, a roll cage, recaros etc. I'd just call this a very tame Macho compared to other ones out there.
