Sorry, I haven't tried the repro moldings, so I don't know first hand. I've read some reviews of the repro trims, but that was years ago, so they may be better now. I hope they are. I do wonder why they list the FG156 front windshield moldings as 5 piece, since there are only 3 pieces.

I personally would restore some used originals.

I think they come with the black plastic gutter sweeps. Likewise, has only read of them and no particular brands. The straight pieces aren't too bad but the curved trim, especially 75-81 rear window corner, are distorted and pinched. They advise use of plastic retainers that flex more. I'm not sure how well they work with GM trim pieces, assume close enough to work, could always use new long strips and GM corners, but defeats the purpose. But no experience other than reading and looking at pics. The rear corners are obvious even in ads.

That makes sense.

I just had a 'mint original' set shipped around the world, and they arrived in bubble-wrap only. Somehow they didn't get bent and destroyed, but having said that, the guy couldn't remove them from the car retainers without kinking every single point. They are junk. And yet he claimed they were perfect, and not bothered by the fact that shipping cost more than them. Collect any good pieces while you can, since most good pieces are far from it, and any that remain are subject to cowboys making a quick buck parting them out and shipping incorrectly and with little care for the buyer.

I have a pile of window trim. Havent sorted them out yet to see exactly whats there but maybe 50 pcs or so if anyone needs something. Also, I tried using the plastic clips with original trim and they were junk. The trim did not want to clip onto them. I ended up throwing them out and finding some decent metal clips.

Not sure if quality has gotten better in the past couple of years but the repop ones I received were complete junk.  I think they were OER branded.  I ended up restoring & rechroming my originals.

I'd still give Ames a call and ask what their return rate is on the part and if their parts are different from the other options on the market.  They're usually pretty upfront about the quality of their parts.

Nigle, I dug them out last night and have a pretty decent set of rear window trims (curved pieces). If you want send me an email and I can shoot you some pics.

Yeah bud, I'd stick with restoring originals assuming they aren't banged up. If you're running a '79-81, you can pretty much make them indestructible if you get them powdercoated satin black. That's what a lot of folks do, and in the end would probably cost less than repro.

I ordered a jewelers hammer and anvil and I will tap out the dings, get the trim polished then have powdercoated satin black.
