79 interior color
« on: October 07, 2019, 10:06:54 AM »
I Have a 79 Firebird it was Originally Nocturne Blue with Oyster and White trim. I painted it Indigo blue Mettalic a while back and my interior is in need of help. I have all the plastic pieces but cant remember what color went where. and my lack of pictures doesn't help.
so my question is What was Oyster? and what was white?

what I assume to be correct:
Oyster = seats and door panels.

thanks

Oyster is the name of the white color, so it's not oyster and white. If your seats are Oyster color, they must be vinyl.

With Oyster seats and door panels and trims, you should have had a contrasting color on the dash, the kick panels, console, the carpet, and the package tray. The contrasting color could be gray, black, or blue.

So, what color is your dash? That would be the contrasting color for the other parts.

Also, what is the trim code number on your cowl tag, which is the Fisher Body tag on top driver side of the firewall under the hood. That will tell what color interior you had. The trim color code should be the first code on the second line of the tag and have 2 numbers and a letter. Like my car has oyster with gray interior, and the code is 12R. So, yours should have similar code with 2 numbers and a letter.

my Fender Tag is MIA in the Garage somewhere but I have my Original window sticker and it says:
trim vinyl Oyster
trim Interior oyster

and I know my carpet was Powder Blue and dash/console is Light Blue.

There you go then. So, as mentioned before, dash, console, kicks, carpet and package tray would be blue, and the rest oyster white.

I guess you see the car there, and the above post is correct.  The dash, steering column, console, carpet, kick panels, and rear package tray were blue.  If you had color seat belts, they would be blue.  standard seat belts are black.  I think the cheapest Firebird steering wheel was black only for several years, but I am not sure that was still a thing in 1979.

Everything else was white, like the headliner for instance, but I am not trying to make a distinction between different colors of white.
