1981 SE TA Headliner and SEM dye help
« on: September 05, 2019, 08:00:18 PM »
I just bought a low mile 81 SE TA 4 speed and the original headliner material is loose and I need to install a new headliner which I have done numerous times.  My question is what is the correct material and color for a medium doeskin 64R interior.   I just want the material and I will use the old board.  Any links where to buy would be a great help.

The rear arm rests are also a bit faded and I want to re dye them with correct SEM dye, does anyone know the correct color and part number for SEM.  Thanks in advance.

They reproduce a very good quality headliner material you buy in a roll and it is very close to the original. It comes in the factory colours, I bought mine through F-bodywarehouse but I think it was a bit pricey from there. Check out a few other retailers you'll see it straightaway.

If it's the same as Camel Tan from the two previous years, on the cans I buy and use which are somehow really good even down here in Australia, the colour code is 6172

It's not the same as Camel tan. In 81, it's a lighter tan color called Doeskin. But I couldn't tell you the SEM color to use.

Yea I don't think its Camel headliner material or SEM Camel Dye.  I am sure someone else has been in the situation and got things sorted out.  Looking for some help in which direction to go and where to find the headliner material and what dye is best to original color.

Car only has 18K miles on it.

Maxthe222 mentioned Fbodywarehouse.com and he may be a good person to ask. He restores TA's and is a dealer for SEM, and sells headliner material, so he probably knows exactly what you need.

Not only that, Pete goes that extra mile to ship safely overseas when others stop contact when they realise.

Never got an answer from F Body Whse.

Anyone know what SEM dye is closest to medium doeskin for 1981 TA with standard vinyl interior.  Got the TA SE today and its super nice, but has a few faded interior plastic panels.

If you have to remove the headliner anyway, get it recovered correctly.
