Looks like I have one of the first BPM 1998 Trans Am's
« on: September 05, 2019, 06:59:43 AM »
Thought my TAC friends would be interested to find out this bit of information.  I was speaking with someone who runs a registry for the '98 bright purple metallic cars. After providing my VIN (xxxxxx00694), it looks like I'm going to have the first registered BPM Trans Am with a July 21, 1997 build date.

I'm going to study the numbers more on my car to confirm and keep you guys updated.

Ya, me too. That is an awesome color. I wouldn't mind having that car in my lineup.

I nearly painted an earlier restored classic into the same colour. Gf at the time wouldn't allow it. Said it was a colour that symbolised being sexually frustrated. It's amazing how hard you can bite your tongue before bleeding starts!

After sending the registry my VIN and production info, my car is showing to be the first ‘98 Bright Purple Metallic Trans Am.  There is one base model V6 Firebird before mine.

For anyone interested in these ‘98 BPM T/A’s, check out this video of Tim Saenger’s ‘98 he bought brand new.  His is 1 of 6 WS6 T56 cars.  He lives nearby where I’m at in Illinois...

Awesome Jon!! That's cool.

Thanks Jeff!

Hope all is well with you, the family and the bird projects.  I saw a gold 1st gen online recently with 2nd gen wheel spoilers and WS6 wheels recently.  Thought of you from that car.  Looked awesome blending 1st/2nd gen styling together.
