LS3 motor and 6speed manual trans

So I have been looking around at different LS options for my 77TransAm project. I have seen a lot of LS3 engine and transmission combos from 2010 and up camaros. Outside accessory brackets and oil pans, Do anyone have info on the fitment of these motors? I have been also looking for other LS options as well. I have also looked at the LS connect and cruise option from Chevy Performance as well. Really looking for any thoughts or ides people might have on it.

Radiator is one issue, water pump outlet another...

What issues would they create? I thought that if I use an LS Radiator it should work, are there any other issues with the water pump?

I used a 98-02 F radiator in mine for hose routing - the upper hose needed to be shortened as the water pump outlet moved in LS3's. 

Outlets need modding with fittings - If I used the Holley pan like I should It will be even lower in the frame.






I would not screw around with frame cutting for the AC, use the aftermarket mount kit

This has been done many times.  At an overall view, there are several places that make all the parts you need to do the conversion.  I just finished my own and there is a thread on this a few down.  Motor mounts, Fuel system, Cooling system and how to feed info to the gages are the big categories.  If you are going to have someone do this for you ( I highly recommend this option unless you are unusally handy in the garage) then you will need to provide input on how you want to do it or, how they have experience doing it.

That is real good info! I plan on using the high mount brackets for the accessories and not notching the subframe. I think I found a decent LQ9 block that I am going to take a look at.

I plan on doing it myself , I have the shop and tools to do it. Just trying to figure out the best options and plans on going about it.

I used dirty dingo engine brackets and I didn't set the engine back far so the stock 98 ls alternator fit and I didn't need to use angle fittings on the water pump. It also let's you install the transmission crossmember in the back hole of the frame and you don't need a special crossmember or cut and weld the tang.

I had really good luck with Matts classic Bowties, I bought a Holley EFI controller and the harness.  And I used the MuscleRodz engine mount and crossmember, I also bought their gas tank with in tank pump and radiator.

LS3/TR6060 is a great combo, but the issue with the TR6060 is that you need special driveshaft made, or convert it to a slip joint. At that point, it becomes almost as expense as the T56 Magnum, which is the same internally. The LS3 is phycially the same size as any Gen 3 or 4 LS engine, so the mounts/headers/etc will all be the same as any swap on the site.

Mine has a 4L70E automatic, but I had a very good experience getting the majority of my conversion parts from these folks.  Looks like they have manual kits as well.

I bought my LS conversion radiator from them (made by Dewitts).  I went elsewhere for the accessory drive - went with the Holley Mid Mount kit - which fits perfectly in the t/a.
