Fisher top trim
« on: July 14, 2019, 07:26:47 AM »
Tried searching but site giving me an error.   What color are fisher t top trim/molding supposed to be. The exterior I mean, aluminum surround around the glass?? My car is a non-S.E. so my window trim is the factory bright work  not black. Want to make sure I get it right

Thanks !

I am pretty sure that they were bright metal. There is an original 78 non se car in the for sale section here that has them. They are bright metal.

The trim around the glass on all Fisher t-tops was always originally black, regardless of whether it's an SE or not.

It often wore off over time of course.

Also, if you have a 79 TA, as your signature says, the windshield and back glass trim should be black. All 79 TA's (and Formulas) came with black trims front and back from the factory. Over the years, the black coating deteriorated, and some people would clean it all off, rather than repaint it black, leaving the bright moldings.

I thought that the se's were the only cars with the black trim. Out of curiosity, refer to the car in the 4sale section. Says its low mileage survivor. Trim is all bright metal, doesn't look paint has been worn off.

Ah, you didn't read my post closely enough. I said ALL 1979 Trans Ams (and Formula) came with black trim, regardless of SE or not. 79 was the first year that started. The one in the 4 sale section is a 78, which is a different story.

I should know, since I have 4 79 TA's :) .

Gotcha!! I did know that all of the window trim was painted black in 79, so the rest makes sense. Personally, I dont care for all of that bright work across the top of the car.
