invited to automotive expo
« on: May 24, 2019, 03:38:30 PM »
Last nigth i got a call asking if i would like to bring my car down to a large automotive car/boat/RV expo that is beeing held in my hometown.

some of the cars that was orignally designated could not make it, and they had a few spots to fill in the enthusiast car slot.
The whole thing is inside a gigant sports/ice skating arena.

I thanked yes rigth away and drowe down there parked my car and got to detailing and waxing til i almost rubbed the paint off  :D
the expo opens for the public tomorrow. I am the only Firebird in there, Local brancehs of cardealerships from bmw, porche, toyota, ford +++ are present as well as meguiers and other car detailers, painters ceramic coaters, it's a car guys heaven :)

Absolutely beautiful car. The tacky sticker slapped on the rear panel ruined a perfect score.

Lol , yeah the sticker i was debating with myself about slapping it on or not, and it is just a a point of aggervation for me o as it is partially peeling off after a few washes, and is indeed tacky.

The Firebird looks small next to those land yachts.

I would've been like, "Oh, so I wasn't good enough to be your first choice?" :P

Yeah, the bird does look small, living in Norway we are used to smaller sized cars, i remeber when i first got the formula thinking to myself what a huge car sitting inside looking out over the hood, but it really is moderatley sized, next to even a crown victoria the car looks small and nible.

New cars 2010 onwards have grown bigger, and now it is a moderatley sized car, but you get the impressions of a lagre car because it is low and wide.

Every time I see my Firebird I think it's huge, and when I sit in it and can't see over the dash I think it's huge.  Then when it's next to my mom's Challenger it's not as huge.  Though based on its dimensions it's not a small car by any means.  Then again it's all about perspective, even a Miata looks huge next to an Elan or Cappuccino.

To be completley honest, the car does look a lot better than it really is, the ligthing was kind to it, i got a rust bubble rigth behind the driverside window, where the gasket seats agains the driverside b-pillar (temporaly held in check with doses of fluid film regularly) the hood have blistering going on dont know if it is outgassing of the fiberglass hood, or bonding/paint boiling issue)
also panel gaps is horrible, mostly due to worn out bodybushings, i have a set of pro touring f-body solid mounts laying in the trunk but i am dreading trying to loosen them incase one or more starts to spinn, i have been wd40'ing them for about 2 years lol! but is is continually improving, and a driving project.
