Seat track differences 2nd gen 71-74 to 75-81
« on: April 16, 2019, 05:41:37 AM »
Is there a quick way to tell the difference between seat tracks on 2nd gens? As far as I know the passenger seat track is the difference for catalytic converter. Is one track longer than the other? I think I have a pair from a 74 but not sure

On the 70 through 74, the driver and passenger track sets will interchange.  The tracks are the same height.  On the 75-81, the inboard tracks, both of them, are revised so that they are mounted up inside the seat and not on the bottom of it.

I think the outboard tracks weren't changed.  If you took the two outboard tracks out of a 1981 you could make a set for a 1970 that would fit, but you'd have two adjustment handles.

I suppose ebay pictures would do wonders for comparing the two.

so you can see here that one of the tracks mounts beside the seat frame and not under it.  That's the 75-81.
