Swap Meets - Charlotte?
« on: April 02, 2019, 10:26:30 AM »
Anybody going?  I really have the itch to go, but it looks like it might rain Friday.

I live right up the street from the speedway and won't be attending on Friday as I'm still a "working stiff".  On another note and to not detour anyone from coming, but the Charlotte Autofair has gone down hill over the years for some reason.  In years past, there used to be cars parked around the entire track and plenty of vendors everywhere.  We went last year as Prestige Motorsports was using my car as an example of their work and I would say there barely were cars around half the track.  I'm not sure what's been going on over the years, but it hasn't been worth going in my opinion.  Sorry to rain on your parade...

I think that's indicative of the hobby in general. Although Hershey seems packed to me, I have heard that its nothing 'like it used to be'. I have seen what I perceive as a slight decline at Carlisle as well. I think the 'net has taken its toll on parts sellers. I still like to go, most of the time not even looking for something but more as something different to do.

I think there is a lot more trading on the internet all year, and so there's not as much need to go dig around in person at the shows.  Still fun, i think.  If the car corral is halfway around the track, that is a lot of cars.  Anyway, I didn't go.  Still thinking about Carlisle.

I noticed at Carlisle a lot of people parking inside don't really have anything as required for sale, or not much.

I see that as well. A car will be parked in a vendor spot with a trunk load of old records or stuff like that. Im still on the fence with Carlisle, I plan on going at this point, but my schedule changes almost daily so who knows?
