4-speed Transmission id code
« on: February 03, 2019, 10:32:45 AM »
Did the 4-speed transmission get the vin stamped on it?  If so, does anyone know where to look for it?

Thanks, Rg

1979, I think it should be the Borg-warner t-10.

I think the 4 speed should have VIN stamped. For my 78 Borg Warner ST10, it was stamped. Its high up on trans and visible (though bit hard to read) from passenger side of trans. Check out http://www.pontiacpower.org/BW.htm

Every single Borg Warner Super T-10 by that time had the stamps on them. I'm almost certain that every single 1979 Super T-10 (especially the ones coupled to the W72's) were stamped. There's a tab on the outside of the case where they could easily and clearly stamp the partial VIN onto.
1979 T/A Y84 WS6
1979 F/A W72 WS6
1971 Formula 400 4-Speed
