2019 Nationals------35th Anniversary!!
« on: January 30, 2019, 10:10:35 AM »
Yep, its a balmy -4 here in KC with a wind chill of -20ish and I am ready for winter to be gone.  For those north and east of my area, I hope y'all stay safe up there.  So with that being said, has anyone been thinking about the Nationals this year?   I've booked my room yesterday.  Heard that you can register online this year?  That would be cool. I don't have Facebook, so don't know if there have been any mentions on the Nationals page about what they may be doing special this year since its the 50th anniversary of the Trans Am.  We didn't make it last year for very good reasons, but looking forward to this year's events already.

I made my reservation a while back. ALWAYS look forward to the nats.
I believe they are working on on-line registration, but it's not ready yet. They are highlighting the 69,79 etc.
I heard the 89 Anniversary TTA group is using the Nationals as their national get together.

Actually got my registration in the mail yesterday!  Nice way to get me to not think about the snow that's on the ground and more that's coming tomorrow evening.

I got mine last week, the wifes already worked out the days off with her new job. I'm really looking forward to getting there, I guess I need to get on the reservations.

Made my reservations a couple months back I also received my registrations forms last week.  Not sure who's riding shotgun with me nor which cars I'll have ready but looking forward to the sea of birds and familiar faces.  Haven't done Tipp with a car in the last few years might go this year.

Well I tried to make reservations yesterday and the Holiday Inn is booked so we ended up in the Clarion a block away. Anyone driving from St Louis Friday that we can hook up with?

The Holiday Inn books up pretty quickly.  We usually stay at the Hampton Inn.  Its always been a good stay there.

Well, as it stands now, we are driving to St Louis to meet up with the other half of our little trailer caravan on Thursday afternoon and driving to Indy Thursday evening. He has two little ones and wanted to break up the trip so as not to have a cabin full of screaming toddlers lol.  If for some reason that changes and we leave out Friday morning instead, you are more than welcome to join us if you don't mind traveling slower with a couple of trailers.

I would love to be back this year.  Even if for a day without the TA.  Depends of when school starts back up for my kid.

Hey I just wanted to give you a quick update since there was discussion of a caravan.  We are in fact leaving from St Louis on Thursday afternoon now and breaking up the trip to ease some toddler tension lol.  Sorry about that.  Who knows.........you might catch us on Friday lol.

So I think I'm going to plan to go this year.  Surprisingly, I was just able to make a reservation at the Homewood Suites this morning.  I'll be driving a mini-van though:).

Any word on other options for Friday night.  I see Miamisburg is the only official cruise for Friday.  I know there was some talk about crashing a local car show.  Are people still doing that.  I suspect based on poor feedback that there wont be anything at the wandering griffin

What a great weekend!!  Just finished loading up the ride so we can west bound and down in the morning. Met and/or  talked with a few TACrs at Tipp City. Final number for registered attendees........485!!  The passion and enthusiasm is alive and well in all generations.  The GTA held its own with all its touch ups and flaws with a second place finish.  Had 19 cars in my class.  Very happy with that. It ran great on the cruise to and from Tipp. Just was about as perfect of a weekend for me as you could get. Hope everyone has safe travels home.  Got about 10 hours for us tomorrow. All worth it.

Great weekend.   Ride home was interesting!   Pulled off & got gas.   Ready to go again, turn key and .......Nothing. No power to anything.   Pop hood to find the battery disconnect worked itself loose and disconnected.  Wow, easy fix for a gut wrenching panic.   Hope that is the worst anyone experiences on the trip home.

Great show this year.  I enjoyed it even without a car.  Unfortunately I missed catching up with quite a few people.  Maybe next year!

One of the best times yet and I have been going since 93. There were some times there when venues were being switched that we were really concerned it might end. No worries now after seeing 485 for the show and 381 at Tipp City (new record)! Great weekend, over too fast. Had a great time with Yeti, Another10th, hakitup, etc, etc. Can't wait for next year!

What a great weekend!!! So many beautiful cars to see, and good friends to hang out with! As always, it was over too soon. I can't wait till next year.
Those of you on this forum that have never attended the Nationals need to put this on your bucket list.

Been busier than a one armed wall paper hanger since getting back fro the Nats.  I requested and got my judging sheet back............89/100.  What's funny is the area I thought would be my issues weren't issues at all and the area I thought was good I got a lower score on.  Oh well, I'm still very happy with it and after looking at the area of concern for the judges, I think I know what I've got to do to get it better.  At least that's the only thing I could see being an issue.  I do have pics but as stated, been super busy.  I will try to get them up tomorrow or Monday.
