1979 Trans am floor mats
« on: December 06, 2018, 09:23:33 AM »
My husband is restoring his 1979 Black Trans am. I would like to get him the original floor mats but not sure what they look like. Can anyone help me?

I just picked up a set of these for my T/A. I could not find them anywhere else.

The originals should be rubber. Aftermarket ones are the carpet type. NPD is a good place to get them. There are several vendors that specialize in these cars that should have them. All of them have an online presence, AMES, YEAR ONE, CLASSIC INDUSTRIES, FBODY WAREHOUSE are a few of the biggies. My experience is that they will all be around the same price point but shipping time and rates may vary depending on your location. Good Luck, I assume this is for a present. He will be happy. The only thing my wife ever said about my car is that ……. well this is a family forum so I will leave the rest out! LOL

wow those mats are cheaply priced, they used to go for over 100.  if the blue set is really 29 bucks i may buy them just because.

Those look just like the ones I posted from NPD, but a much higher price. Is there a difference?

WOW! Those are priced very good. I almost bought a set at 120. I may have to place an order on a couple of sets.

I've  said it before,  "I buy everything from NPD". They have never let me down and I have spent  thousands with them on the three restorations. It helps I can drive to the Michigan one for large items or ones I want to see first.

I spend most of my money with Ames only because that is who I am used to dealing with and I am close enough to get parts in 2 or 3 days. Never even really looked close at the npd cat. Will have to start checking them out more.

The NPD ones I ordered just showed up at my office. Other than the "made in China" sticker on the wrapper, I am pretty happy with them.

Just recieved my floor mats today, and an NPD catalog.  Very happy with them, and the catalog shows $99. So feels like we got a darn good deal.
