GM corporate blue was the color from 77 and up. I've found that the spray paints labeled as GM corp blue aren't really close enough to the original color. I read on another forum about Duplicolor #1619 Chrysler green being a good match. I tried it, and it is the best match in my opinion. It's not green. It's really blue with just a hint of greenish to it. This looked closest to the original paint that was on my 403 valve covers. Also, I bought the Duplicolor #1619 at NAPA auto parts, if you have trouble finding it.

You can read and see some pics of what I'm talking about in this thread at PY:  http://forums.maxperformanceinc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=822089&highlight=corporate+blue

The Chrysler green looks decent for an old GM Corporate blue that's heat affected. It looks better on small parts than large. I wonder how the colour ages though. Luckily, not much of the blue is seen by the time all the brackets and hoses are added to know if the colour is slightly off.

The VHT SP-135 is a nice shade. Not quite green enough but it looks neat.

Do you think the VHT SP122 is too light blue  ( to match the stock corporate blue color)

It's not remotely a similar colour, for earlier years Pontiac engines.

Here's SP-135 in sunlight and with a flash indoors. It changes blues in different lighting intensity in photos, this is all the same blue just for ideas.

These lighter ones may be Motospray / Septone GM Blue, didn't have the quality of the VHT paint.

This one is somewhat popular also, Chrysler Green. It also changes colour in different light from a turquoise as shown, to a cream green sickly shade. Sometimes it look perfect, other times not so much. So I ignored what colour was closest and picked what I thought was better looking.

A lot can be the lighting. The pics from BentwheelBob look amazing. And then there's some that look bleh...but then I even had that in my own photos. We couldn't get that shade down here, so it was easy to ignore it, although wasn't aware of it at the time either or would have compared perhaps.

Just to be sure: So pics above were SP135?

You ended up using some the Chrysler Green?

Here are 2 different NOS 400 valve covers in GM Corporate Blue in boxes. One filmed inside and the other in bright sun, there is possibly slight variation in the shade anyway, although the old GM box labels were often a close match.

Here is the VHT GM Corporate Blue.

And the inspection stamp on a tired 350 Olds valve cover with heat-affected green tinge.

When you all painted your engines did you use primer? necessary?

In VHT the engine enamel is 550F degree rating... Primer need to be same?

I have VHT2000F  exhaust primer I suppose that will be work ???    ...no difference in cost.
