Best manual for GM part numbers?
« on: September 10, 2018, 04:28:57 PM »
I think the best way to buy J-nuts, pointy body bolts, clips, and other "small stuff" hardware is to get the GM part number and then google that p/n.  I have had good luck doing that when I knew the p/n, but finding the GM p/n is the trick.

What factory manuals are best to get that info?  I have the body manual and the service manual for my 78 Trnas Am, but those don't have all that much in the way of part numbers.

I think I need the "Assembly Manual" but I've never seen one so not sure.

Thoughts?

Good question. I have a fisher body manual, and a shop manual for my car as well. You are correct, not many part numbers.

When searching for parts and numbers I look into Ames website first, they typically include GM part numbers that can be used to search on other sites.

I have the parts manuals, but it would be that easy to use them for bolts.  I bet the assembly manual would be best.

Additional question:

I literally can't find an assembly manual for the 78 model year.  All anybody is selling are the 76 and 80 model year manuals.  What's up with that?
