Suggestion
« on: July 11, 2018, 11:51:53 AM »
I don’t see a forum for this so here goes. Any way possible to get an easier photo up loader? Simply....Flicker sucks!! Very confuseing! Why can’t we just be able to upload directly from our photo folders, like here on my I pad???

I am not very computer literate and find all of the photo sites confusing. However once you get used to using them its pretty much just a couple of clicks. Do you have the flickr app on on your ipad? I use a Samsung smartphone and have the app. When I take a pic I can hit the app button and with a couple of prompts I can have the pics uploaded to the flickr website. Now, I have to admit from there I go to my desktop computer to take the pics from there to the forums, but that step is pretty easy. I dont understand the behind the scene workings of a webpage/forum, but there is a technical reason why pictures cant be directly added to this forum. Good Luck!
BTW, when I had photobucket it worked really easy too, but they started to charge for their service and that is when I left them along with millions of others!

Options are 1) more ads to pay for storage space, 2) pay to join the forum, or 3) use a hosting site for pics, click few extra buttons and enjoy free forum with minimal ads.

I'm with the masses on this one.  The overly complicated process of posting just 1 pic is 50% of the reason I have not updated my resto thread in a long time.

Photobucket was 3 clicks for 1 pic.  Rollover the pic, click to copy the IMG code, Right click to get the paste menu on the forums, then click paste.  Done.

Flickr:  Click 5 times to get the IMG code for 1 pic.  Right click to get the paste menu, then paste and DELETE all the excess code that Flickr deems necessary.  If you look at the code, Flickr gives out your name and date, then makes a link out of it so everyone knows your business.

I'm going back to the Polariod era.  Scan pic, save to computer, upload to the internet with a 56K dial-up modem, wait 15 minutes for a 300 dpi image to load, then share it through antiquated web building software.... but at least there's no ads and people only know what you tell them.

I dont think its too big of a deal once you get the hang of it. Again I am basically a computer dummy, but the best trick I learned (and most of you guys are probably going to say DuH!), is to open 2 windows at the same time. ( I was in total amazement when I found out that this could be done and how to do it!!). I have the forum on one page, flickr on the other. 2 clicks and  pics are done. Pretty simple. I do agree with 'caff on the privacy thing.  That's why I only post pics of cars and stupid crap on the hosting site. Another reason why I have never posted on FB and any of that other nonsense.

No Big Deal to me.
The Corvette Forums always required a Photo Hosting site to post pictures.
They have way larger memberships & hundreds of supporting vendors each.

I like IMGUR.
No issues.
Easy & just works nice.

You can also use Facebook, add your pick to Facebook (create an album for your car too), then click on the pic, left click the pick and select "Copy Image Location" and then paste that here in between the tags [ img ]LocationHere[ /img ]

I use the Flickr2bbcode app. It works great and quick to post from my phone or tablet. Once you have the Flickr app add the Flickr2bbcode app. It generates the bbcode you need to post. Pretty simple.

What is this bbcode app you are talking about? I guess its something I can get from the app world?  I had a PB app at one time and once you took a pic on your smart phone you could download to the web with a click. That was pretty nice.

It is a second app actually called Flickr2bbcodelite. The icon is two B's with "lite" under it. You use it in conjunction with the Flickr app on your phone or tablet. It converts the link to bbcode that you can paste here. If using a computer you don't need it as you can just grab the bbcode.

Yep that’s what I do. They have a size limit and limit of 5 pics per post, but I just hit choose file and my i pad library pops up, click on it and see the tiny pic in the corner, I preview the post then hit post. Easy! I do not have an I phone or smart phone. I’ve tried Flicker a dozen times and still can’t get it.

Yeah!!!  Lol!

Silighty off topic:  Hey we found a plethora of old, undeveloped film cartridges when we cleaned out the womans late mothers house.  Omg pics from about 50 years ago...

Back on topic:  I still do have Flikr, I just don't like it, again because of the privacy issues.  Otherwise it's not actually THAT hard to use.  It does seem that when I create a new album, however, nothing happens.

Flickr is super easy, once you know how:

1. Click on Right Pointing Arrow ("Share Photo" displays when you hover over it) on the page with your Flickr photo.
2. Click on BBcode
3. Copy & Paste code in your transamcountry.com post
4. Delete everything after this exact part you see here in red: [/img][/url]
5. Click Preview and/or Post to see if it looks correct.

EXAMPLE:

You'll copy this:

[ url = https://flic.kr/p/26Lzcpy][img ]https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1745/41854879274_b38129fc63_b.jpg [ /img][ /url]
[ url=https://flic.kr/p/26Lzcpy]Engine[ /url] by [ url=https://www.flickr.com/photos/158618128@N08/]YourAccountName[ /url], on Flickr

And after deleting, it will look like this, which is the entire 1st line from the code above:

[ url = https://flic.kr/p/26Lzcpy][img ]https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1745/41854879274_b38129fc63_b.jpg [ /img][ /url]

Notes:

1. You will not see red.
2. I added spaces in some places, so that it will not actually show the image, but instead so you can see what the text is to look like before and after.

I can’t even get my pics loaded on flicker off my desk top folders. It’s very agrivating, and I’m not really a computer person. On PY You browse, choose a file, upload and it’s there. That simple. No copy and paste non sense, tags, etc. I don’t post a lot on most sites because of this problem not being able to easily up load pictures. I don’t have an I phone either and don’t do Apps stuff.

Should be able to load them right off my I pad, browse, click upload click post. Easy Pesy! Photo host sites are crazy. I was able to create an album, click and hold on a pic choose copy, but it won’t copy. On Flickr. I tried to drag a pic to the area it says to drag it to and it just slides back when I try and do that. Oh well.
